Women In Fire: Push To Recruit More Women As Firefighter Shortages Continue

1. Very few women can do the job of a city fire department adequately. They simply are not big enough or strong enough. I worked wildland fires for a couple of years in my 20s, I could do that but forget structure fires where you have to climb ladders with heavy packs and carry people out of buildings. It is physically too demanding for the vast majority of women, but there are some exceptions, and those who are the exceptions should absolutely go for it. More women can do wildland fire fighting because it does not require as much strength.

14. Lol as soon as they get women involved they start taking apart the viability of the job with all the social 'needs' they have and altering the requirements to suit themselves.
    Sorry but who wants a 130 pound woman trying to carry a 200 pound man out of a burning building.And yes i have taken fire training many times and doing physical labour in a 120 degree smoke filled environment wearing 40 pounds of gear and a scott air pack is not something you want to be politically correct with.
