  1. All you need to know is in the last part when the suit Eric Nichols, Owner of Alcan Timber, says that he is not concerned about the Tongass, the environment, and climate change. Literally evil. You can have a pseudo-scientific debate about the legitimacy of climate change, but we absolutely have a responsibility to the environment and keeping old-growth habitats intact. The hard part about this argument is that people do consume plenty of wood products and we need to get the resources from somewhere. This is why we need a sustainable forest management plan across America and Earth to manage risks associated with deforestation and habitat loss.

  2. 7:07 “we don’t believe that”…. OF COURSE HE DOESN’T! What an idiotic person for his rejection of simple scientifically supported claims

  3. Our responsible overlords strike again. What they don’t know is that all these destructive actions are destroying our economy.

  4. "When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money."

  5. Provide lumber to the world blah blah blah political code word for we value profits more than human or natural life these people are truly scum. Boo Hoo people can't get by in this economy well that's because of LEECHES like you greedy billionaire if these oxygen thief human trash actually contributed to society rather than exploited labor and the environment for profits we wouldn't be in this mess

  6. "It's a crop." Fine, so buy an area of barren land and grow the wood you want to cut. Don't harm these ancient forests.

  7. Protect what we have left of Nature if you look at our past history the logging companies already had their say and got away with taking large amounts of forested lands in America. Don't put money before nature or it will kill us all. I can't breathe your money or eat it. Why is the government so concerned about people working? Because they want them paying taxes so those government people can put more money in their pockets. Money is not more important than food, water, air, and clothing Wich nature provides to us all.

  8. "wheres your amazon box's going to come from?"… is that really his argument for murdering lives that have literally been growing for 4-8xs longer than him….? so sad

  9. "Is this irreplaceable-within our lifetime tree really worth more than the profits i can make from it???"
This is the problem with capitalism valuing profit over anything.

  10. I have to agree. We shouldn't log these old growth forests. There are indeed other forests that are prone to heavy forest fires that need thinning. Plenty of trees we can log to meet consumer demand that won't hurt the environment.

  11. Clear cutting forest is wrong. Thinning certain number of trees in forest is okay if done in a way that causes little disturbance, but the lumber industry has proven time and time again that they can't be trusted

  12. They call it a renewable resource? Are you serious right now? You're going to compare old growth trees to fucking corn? Corn that can be planted and harvested in one season. Versus a tree requiring what? Several decades IF NOT longer? Just to reach that level of growth required to be useful to us. How about you leave the forest alone, you people are already fucking up the Amazon beyond repair.

  13. To the people who believe humans causing climate change is a joke: yes, you are correct. The planet continuously goes through climate changes, hence we had heat waves and ice ages over the course of history. What you fail to understand is that the waste left behind by human beings has sped up climate change to the point that we will see and live through the negative impacts that come with that. That is our fault and you simply have to come to terms with it, hopefully before it is too late to do anything about it.
