Sandra Tetley, who was charged with the restoration, said they found cigarettes, an RC Cola and even a flight plan when the consoles were taken to a space museum.

  1. I'll never forget, as a young girl, waiting and praying that the LEM would land safely back home and the men would be picked up without any problems. They were, and all of them still are, my heroes, in the true sense of the meaning.

  2. What du we today ?
people that think the earth is flat.
    Extreme feminists
People that think humanity’s greatest achievement is fake
LOL you chant stop the progress

  3. Too bad the funding will probably be cut. Doubt we will ever even get back to the moon, let alone Mars. ABC always has to pander to some group.

  4. Where are the captions?!
Are you serious? A big news organization like ABC News can't be bothered to turn on CAPTIONS on their YouTube videos???
Way to say "screw you hearing impaired" ABC!

  5. This was an incredible journey I will not forget. I was 7 years old and with my family visiting Vancouver British Columbia Canada from the Yakima Valley Washington and remember this incredible event. Amazing what can be done when people work together rather than promote bigotry and hatred.

  6. Thank you to all who worked or have worked on the space program. Fifty years ago, I watched the moon landing with amazement. Before and after that, I saw other successful missions, and tragedies that took people's lives. Thank you to all who dedicated your lives, risked your lives, and lost your lives. Your work will contribute to our survival, especially if we don't get it together to stop trashing planet Earth.

  7. They launched on my birthday back on July 16, 1969. I was 8 years old and that event, as well as today, makes so excited and happy. Now today 50 years later, in my mind, they land on the moon again, wow so cool

  8. My great uncle help with the apollo 11 mission. He worked for NASA.
RIP. Miss you uncle bela. You were so close to this incredible day.

  9. Part of me still says this never happened, it might have happened later on but i (personally) don't believe humans landed on the moon in 1969…human (might) have landed 20+ years after that year

  10. I remember watching from Northglenn, CO (suburb of Denver) on our Color Curtis Mathis 25" TV – the images were B&W and remember we kept waiting and waiting and waiting for the Astronauts to walk on the Moon. When the Astronauts finally appeared, walked on the Moon and did all running around on the Moon, I walked out our Front Door don't remember the time, definately NIGHT – DARK (looked toward the East, looked at the Moon) and knew there were 2 Men on the Moon and one orbiting. I will never forget that night, Ever!!! I am so proud to be an American and America was #1 in the world on that date. I am so glad that I looked at the Moon that night, I wish others did the same thing. God Bless America

  11. Stanley Kubrik filmed the moon landing in Hollywood.
Stanley Kubrik also filmed 2001 Space Oddesy in 1968… and The Shinning, and Eyes Wide Shut.
