12. A few thoughts on Afghanistan and a couple of questions….

    Now that the US has left the country, how does that change the mindset of everyone that looks at the justifications for the war from twenty years ago?

    Also, the mind-blowing amount of money that was spent is shockingly unknown, but estimated at 2 TRILLION DOLLARS. (Incidentally, wasn't that the same amount that the Defense Department said was missing at the news conference that happened the same day as the 9/11 WTC attack? What a coincidence.)
    That's about $250 MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY during the entirety of the war. Afghanistan has a population of about 40 million. That's FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for each and every Afghani person. The annual income of the average Afghani is $570…..PER YEAR.
    To extrapolate that to a representative western country, let's make it a 100x multiple. So, the equivalent earning of $57000 for EVERY MAN, WOMAN, AND CHILD of our hypothetical western country.
    So, if you're an Afghani person, sitting in your country, and someone walked up to you and gave you a bag of money with $50000 in it, what feels like to you would be the same as giving every person in our hypothetical western country…….FIVE MILLION DOLLARS.
    So…..how much more progress would have been made, and how many FEWER LIVES would have been lost, if instead of "bombing Afghanistan back to the dark ages", we just gave everyone in the country a bag of money?

    This is a very HUGE indictment of warmongering.
