According to the CDC, there were 81,000 drug overdose deaths from May 2019 to May 2020 – the most ever recorded in a 12-month period. Southern Ohio is one of the hardest hit areas of the opioid crisis. NBC News NOW host Aaron Gilchrist spoke with an Ohio family devastated by a loss they attribute to the pandemic’s effect on substance abuse.

  1. "Opioid Crisis", …and what YOU OFTEN THINK ABOUT IT, …has NOTHING TO DO WITH INCURABLE SEVERE PAIN PATIENTS AND THEIR DOCTORS. THE MEDIA, in the interest of gathering viewership, HAS ALL BY ITSELF DOOMED INCURABLE SEVERE PAIN SUFFERERS, …and boy, …it comes around and 'rages' you…

  2. Overdose deaths are higher than ever because fentanyl is mostly what's accessible on the streets and people are suffering. The pandemic has only exacerbated the mental health crisis in America and caused additional financial strain for many. Opioids are a way to cope and many people can't access their healthcare providers to seek support- either for fear of COVID or due to lack of appointments. It's a tragic situation that is causing so many more lost lives.

  3. No 1: Don't Only Hope On Government's Responds On security Matter's And Economy growth.

No 2: As An Individual You Should Be Safeguarded And Also Look For Different Self Business And Trade Not Only Waiting on Betterment of Stock market activities.

No 3: Most Important Always Save The Little You Can And Think Of What To Do With It When It Become Good For Capital.

It's 100% Good To Have Different Ways To Gain Income

Because Government Have Failed us In Aspect Of Security, Economics Activities And Other Trading Systems.

  4. It's amazing how drug addiction changed from "DRUG ADDICTION" to "OPIOID ADDICTION" when speaking publicly of caucasian addicts. It's like NIGHT & DAY … like BLACK & WHITE, no? Just 1 of the many little "tricks of the trade" used to disparage people of color.

  5. Funny how the opioid pandemic is humanized but criminalized the crack pandemic 😒🙄

  6. They love lumping everything into the opiate category. For instance, one medication I take has a half life of 4 hours. Here in Ohio they have force tapered all of patients. We have to have monthly drug tests, pill counts, it's like being treated like you're a criminal. I shouldn't be treated like a criminal just because I have a destroyed spine. Shame on all these people. I would love to see these people deal with the daily pain I do, like many others, then still try to demonize these medications. The overdoses are coming from the fentanyl. Just pure shame on all of these people. On another note. I have my medical marijuana card. Only cost me $250 and 5% sales tax at every purchase. So yes, I know right away there are going to be people you should try marijuana. It's a tool, you keep in your tool kit. It's not a replacement. Just stop with the garbage and end the failed war on drugs. #FentanylKills #StopPunishingPainPatients

  7. @NBC News — The county of Scioto was pronounced incorrectly during the narration of this piece 1:56. The proper pronunciation is: sigh OH tuh

  8. Had nothing to do with Covid
They need to bust the pharmacist and drug dealers and keep the borders closed.
You under cover agents should know how to catch them and those on the streets,if we can spot them, You guys should be able too.
Oh and those correctional officers in these jails and prisons
    PERIOD!!!!!!!!
But you Democraps are to busy impeaching those who can and will.
