People! Touching a manatee is illegal.
Ordinarily, touching a manatee is punishable under the Manatee Sanctuary Act, with a fine of up to $500 and/or a jail term of up to 60 days. I know they are cool and all but is endangered species.
Mannates are a endangered species, cause humans .

FYI – I live in ft Lauderdale and see manatees often. If you go out and pursue or approach them the lifeguards will stop you immediately and possible charges against you as it’s illegal. If you are already out in the surf and they pass by you then no foul. I see it often.
