1. About 39 years ago I was close to 13 weeks pregnant and had an abortion.  Near the end of the abortion the nurse said 'O My God' and stared for about a minute and left.  The doctor continued staring for about a minute or two longer. While staring he briefly placed his hand on my knee to try to reassure me.  I could see they were in shock and knew they watched my baby die. My legs were draped so I could not see.  I want to stop abortions. Heart pumping blood day 21, brain waves day 40.   see Baby Center- Fetal Development Week By Week which states on week 11 the baby can FEEL if the belly is gently poked on mom,  is kicking and stretching, almost fully developed.  Look at the pictures – the fetus looks like a developed baby.  bible "You knitted me in my mother's womb".  I believe abortion is socially accepted birth control taught by the powerful examples set by society.  I was told at the appointment the fetus was just tissue – the same lie told today despite the advanced technology showing the truth.  The greatest holocaust was not from Hitler's Nazi regime – but from the brutal abortion of innocent lives.

   I know everyone has their own opinion regarding abortion and I do understand those who oppose it and I understand why. Unfortunately, even if abortion is outlawed here in the U.S. in many states, desperate women will still get abortions any way they can, law or no law, safe or unsafe. Also, even if women are forced to go through with an unwanted pregnancy, where are we going to put all those unwanted children? The foster care system will eventually become overwhelmed. What are we going to do then, build orphanages again? That seems like a step backwards to me. We're supposed to be in the 21st century, but it looks like a lot of people in this country want us to revert back to the late 19th and early 20th century.

   Before going forward with making abortion illegal in American states after nearly 50 years of women being in charge of their own reproductive choices, let's take a good, close look at history, shall we?

   ABORTION WAS criminalized throughout the U.S. between the late 1800s and 1973. But during that time, millions of women sought and obtained abortions anyway.

   Of these, tens upon tens of thousands died from illegal abortions or complications arising from them. One 1932 study estimated that illegal abortions or complications from them were the cause of death for 15,000 women each year. Current, more conservative, estimates of the death toll still stand at between 5,000 and 10,000 deaths per year.

   Some of these deaths were the result of the abortions themselves, but many more were from infection and hemorrhaging afterward. Because of the fear of being punished and socially ostracized, many women–and their doctors–kept their real condition a secret.

    Anyway, I can understand looking to abortion if raped or something like that. This said, adoption is and always has been an option. To allow an abortion up to 24 weeks, to me, is pretty sick, given my child's heartbeat was detected at 8 weeks.

    Moving on, I see a story pumped out with the headline, "Phoebe Bridgers reveals she had an abortion last year, says 'everyone deserves' Planned Parenthood access." Turns out she had an abortion while touring her music. So basically, she screwed up, and got pregnant knowing the risk and doesn't want the responsibility nor have a child interfere with her career. Rather than taking responsibility of a child she full well knew could come, she wants the easy way out via an abortion. I will never support that kind of choice. That's on her.
