YOU ARE ALL HYPOCRITES, AND NO MORE THAN THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN THEIR RELIGION. HUMANS ARE OUGHT TO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING THEY HAVENT EVEN SEEN OR EXPERIENCED. YOU TOO BELIEVE IN SUCH FAIRY TALES. Im pretty sure yall also believed in Santa when you were a kid, also boggieman, ghosts, bigfoot, aliens, and many more. 15. “Awaking” the brain seems to mean “make more comfortable (personally).” This appears to just lead to bigotry, as it doesn’t also make one more intelligent or more empathetic. The negative externalities, e.g. thinking one is better than another for no justified reason and acting on that fallacious belief, likely outweigh the positive of the comfort one feels by having those beliefs.

16. Some people are depressed because they are being abused, stalked, harassed, etc.. They can be spiritual all day but if they are being hunted then its not going to help the root issue.

23. Having said that, I found myself in a wretched state of heartbreaking despair, crawling along the floor, traumatized by heartache and gut-wrenching heartbreak. It was so heartbreaking; gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking heartache.

25. If you want to see how far spirituality can take you, with no religious delusions required, there is arguably no better source than Sam Harris. His book, Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion, is an excellent introduction to this topic. He manages to approach it from a scientific perspective (he's a neuroscientist, after all) and avoid the pitfall of New Age woo (e.g. Deepak Chopra). Highly recommended.

37. For those of us not smitten with absolute “blind faith”, this approach is far more appreciated and appealing.

38. Tell me the difference between the placebo effect and spirituality. Tell yourself something is true and it will become true if you believe it. We don’t need fairy tales to give us hope we need real life practices that nurtures healthy relationship and a healthy environment. Spirituality and the placebo effect are no different. Lies can be useful for self deception.
