Pediatric COVID-19 cases on the rise as kids head back to school

1. I was for abbott until my son came home with covid after the first day of school I wish I made my child where a mask and now I'm forced to try to take care of him from home because the hospitals or so full and it's not a pretty site. I shouldn't have even sent him to school my eyes or open now this shows me the government dont care about us there in it for themselves and we get the short end of the stick.

8. Honestly what’s the point of getting vaccinated anymore if you are eligible to get vaccinated the school doesn’t even care about your vaccination status you have to wear a mask at school no matter what

9. I am a pediatrician in a state with no covid regulations or mandates of any kind. Many parents of my patients are struggling. Their children are not yet eligible for the vaccines. AAP and CDC recommend going back to school in person. Schools do not provide virtual studying. Vaccination rate is 55%. No mask mandates in schools or anywhere. Most parents work full time so they can’t homeschool their children. They will have their kids wear masks but fear their kids would get bullied for wearing a mask. They prepare their kids on how to deal with such bullying, how to answer the question “why are you wearing a mask”. Some parents fear their kids would break for being different. These parents turn to me, and I can’t really help them.

10. im glad i live in NY in a democratic state !! and masks are not ban! I'm going into my senior year of highschool fully vaccinated and im still wearing my mask

My kid has ASD I don't TRUST adults pulling out one on one my child was sick every month before the locked down and I'm supposed to just send my child to school with a not promising safe education towards his life but yet parents will be fine if we keep our child home because people out and about with there children outside no mask at swimming pool's and ect I'm not

15. So what? 99% of children get mild cases. Each year, they go back to school and share all kinds of viruses and bacteria. We saw it every year in our Peds practice. Almost none required hospitalization. Some required steroids or nebulizers. Standard care.After a month. Almost no kids were sick. We had no deaths. Many viruses are just as problematic as Covid. Apparently these scared parents have never experienced illness in their children. So sad that parents have allowed the media to brainwash them. Tens of thousands of kids have already had it. Now they have robust immunity. Masks should NOT be mandatory. They provide a dark, moist environment for other pathogens to grow. They impede development of speech, reading of facial cues, normal social interaction, and teach our kids to be germaphobes. The virus will NEVER be gone. The vaccinated are getting AND spreading it. Fever, congestion, cough, runny nose…..all symptoms of many different viruses we all survived as children.
