1. Parents, I respect you and know you love your son with all your heart. The timing in my opinion is unfortunate. Russia under sanctions will soon have ordinary people with food shortages. Many have lost family members in this invasion. Putin will never give in. Probably make some huge offense, maybe even nuclear, soon. Worldwide people are praying for peace and deliverance.

2. I am sorry to hear your story. But I wonder why was your son in Russia anyway? If U.S. gov send him there I can understand your protest & demands. But as a citizen of multiple nations including U.S. I know that lot of American tourist are very disrespectful to the citizens of the host country. & since this happened 4 years ago & Russia has never mentioned his name yet. I am leaning towards believing he commited the crime he is charged with. If what you claim was true other Americans would have also been arrested as a bigger bartending chips. But I understand your pain & what you are going though. GL and I hope your son gets released soon. But I do have to say right now the bigger risponsibility of a president is to avoid WW3. 33. They didn't take him as a bargaining chip… he was arrested in 2019 and there weren't any conflicts to use him as leverage for. And he would've been used as a bargaining chip already if that was the case. Its been 4 years since his arrest and Russia hasn't mentioned him once. Also, the reason he received "the longest sentence that has ever been given out for that specific charge" is because he is American and is probably the only American that has ever been charged with that offense ever. And he probably would have been given the "longest sentence ever" for ANY charge he would have received just because he is American. I understand the family wanting him to come home but the world is in the middle of a massive conflict. We are trying to negotiate peace for an entire country (and avoid WW3) so we can't make this one American priority. We just can't. "Ex Marine" or not. Although my heart does go out to them. To be fair, as a marine, he should've known better than to travel to Russia in the first place.
