  1. Let's do the Porvenir Massacre next! 15 unarmed Mexican-American men and boys killed by Texas Rangers outside the village of Porvenir, 1918.

  2. The tragedy of Tulsa massacre is one of prime example and reminder of how genocidal oppressive vile and depraved racism and white supremacy truly is and how unacceptable and inexcusable of human rights violations of African Americans where back then and today

  3. I am all about teaching the good, the bad, and the ugly of this country. What I don't want to see happen (and unfortunately it is and will happen) is some will take this to push and divide rather than educate. Pre-school children do not need to know about this, just like they don't need to be told about the millions of Jews murdered in concentration camps. There is a particular age group this is for and a 3-5 year old is not it.

  4. IF THEY DIDNT WANT TO TEACH THE EVIL HISTORY THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THEIR ACTIONS ! Where are the other people familiar that came and did this devilish thing ? I hear crickets !!

  5. That makes no sense! Teaching about slavery has a chilling effect! Chilling things happened in history doesn’t mean you just hide it

  6. It wasn’t a “massacre”, it was terrorism and genocide.

  7. Learn from the past.
    Grow for the future.
You can't bury your head in the sand and pretend it never happened.
Future generations should feel the shame that happened that day.

  8. If you can teach 6th graders about the Boston Massacre with a patriotic twinkle in your eye, you can teach them about this.
That doesn't mean you spend all your efforts making everyone hate their homeland and want to burn it down, it just means tell it straight.
    Unvarnished.

  9. Teaching the truth is part of true education. Just because the truth tends to make the "white" people look bad, doesnt mean it should not be taught. Just like a white clothing, if you get a stain, not even TIDE can get it out. So just live with the errors of your ancestors and dont profit, live off of, or benefit from what they did in the past. You want racism to end, then stop doing it!

  10. To block the teaching of the truth about US history of racism is a perfect example of the systemic racism that supposedly doesn't exist anymore.

  11. Yes it is important to acknowledge and teach children……I was schooled in the sixties and never learned of the atrocities of WWII ….hiding the truth delays or prevents longer term growth and development of a more tolerant human race……on an individual level we could call it self awareness ….

  12. Very good start. I propose we give everybody impacted $50M. How about we investigate how Wall St, PE, hedge funds are buying up all the homes and jacking up rent in the whole US?
