Trump got his whole crowd booing Indigenous People in one state, then he comes to North Carolina days for a rally, pretending to care about the Lumbee Tribe. 10. I'll explain this. Most Lumbee who left the area to go to college and got jobs in larger cities, do not support Trump. Those who are in the area are like the miners in coal country waiting for coal to come back. They are waiting for textile factories to come back. They have been waiting for decades. No incentive to look at green industries or training for the computer age.

    Many are also very racist. They believe that "them illegals" are taking their jobs. Immigrants in the area are doing the jobs Lumbees refuse to do. In an area that has had one of the highest unemployment rates for decades, my father couldn't find enough Americans to do farm work.
    My brother and I did it growing up and when we were on college breaks and when we visited on holidays. They refused to work. Told him that they would rather "stay on welfare." My father and other farmers have had no choice but to hire immigrants.

    Many also hate Black people. It is disgusting. Some Lumbees pass for White. But I know their families or am related to them, so get real. Many fly the Confederate flag and would join the KKK if they could. They disdain the BLM.

    The tribe should not have full federal recognition until all funds are audited and the Lumbee in Scotland, Blade, Cumberland, and Hoke Counties receive the same funds as those in Robeson County. Many of our elders live in substandard housing – no indoor plumbing, no modern heating. Meanwhile, those who work for the tribe and their families and friends have built McMansions. Our children should be reading at or above grade level, but are woefully behind
