    How about these.

    We have a population in the Cities that have grown up over the last 20 years believing in freedom and raising their daughters to be educated. These people are all now at risk for their lives after putting their trust in us.

    Our presence there kept a flood of refugees from coming here and from pouring into Europe.

    Our presence there kept a lid on the Taliban, kept ISIS and Al Queda out.

    Our presence there kept Pakistan, Russia and China from fermenting hatred of the west. (Now that job will be much easier. Who can blame them for hating us now?)

    Our presence there was NOT costing us a huge amount of money. It was less than 1% of our military budget but allowed us to do all the above AND keep a strategic presence in Central Asia.

    Our presence there was NOT costing American lives. We lost NO soldiers in the last year before the retreat. We lost only 2300 men in 20 years of our involvement, most of those in the first 5 years.

    This was not necessary. This was not wise. This was not well planned. This is a disaster and it will only become more painful as the weeks and years go by.
