When black people were trapped in hopeless slavery 150 years ago a group of mostly white, men wearing blue uniforms charged across the battlefield to engage and ultimately defeat the confederate army. As these union soldiers were locked in desperate battle with the confederates they had the flag of the United States Of America flying over their heads and unfortunately many of them died horrible deaths without even having the peace of mind of knowing that their sacrifice would eventually free their American brothers and sisters. 
    Of all the different races of people that live in America today I would have thought that African Americans would love the American flag more than any other group of people in this country but I see them "taking a knee" when the flag is raised and I even see them burning the flag in the streets.
    I really think that many blacks have been cruelly tricked and deceived by some really bad people into harboring distain and even hatred for old glory. I can assure you that their African ancestors who lived 150 years ago felt a deep and profound love for that beautiful flag because it represented the end of their brutal oppression and slavery.
    I can only assume that if the black people who lived back then suddenly came back to life and saw their grand children burning and disrespecting old glory they would be brought to their knees in tears. I can only hope and pray that someday my African American brothers and sisters will be able to rediscover their love for "their" flag.
