30. Doctors NEED to stop hiding miscarriage. My first pregnancy was lost from one. My OBGYN did NOT talk about the rates, what causes it, etc. I was not prepared. I didn't know 1 in 4 lose their child. I didn't know that repeat miscarriages were a thing. I understand that talking about the subject to any mother, new or not, is very delicate. But why not break the ice, tell them how to respond appropriately when certain symptoms happen, and get them into the office or ER faster?! Women will be worrying regardless so why not inform them. We are tough.

    Mine was lost due to low progesterone which I found out is EXTREMELY common. I was very early in pregnancy — 5w4d. When I called for the first time to let them know I was pregnant, all they did was schedule an 8 week checkup. When I started bleeding.. they only offered beta draws. No progesterone therapy. They basically just let it happen after they saw over the course of a week that my numbers didn't improve. Come to find out that my story is the story of countless women. Women who , on subsequent tries, had to REQUEST hormone therapy in order to save their child.

    All that to say I am uncertain of Meghan's cause of her tragic loss. It's unbearable no matter the stage and changes you. I hope that her healing journey and ability to be so open and vulnerable allows women to open discussion and start doing research and asking the right questions.
