The World Health Organization has approved a malaria vaccine for use in children, potentially marking a major advance against a disease that kills thousands of children across Africa every year. The WHO said its decision to recommend the jab for children in was based largely on results from research in that tracked more than 800,000 children who have received the vaccine since 2019.

  2. That is good news. The vaccine will go a long way in saving millions of lives. I only hope that the vaccine manufacturers will not charge a vaccination fee because most of the susceptible persons are from developing countries.

  3. Malaria is a common illness in tropical countries and has been successfully treated by different drugs such as chloroquine, quinine, fansidar, artemeter, etc. over the years. The challenge has been availability of the drugs and medical care and treatment for especially poorer countries.
    With this new vaccine, does this mean a child will NEVER have malaria for the rest of his/her life?
