  1. They're crazy. Had a friend growing up that was a nationally ranked white water kayaker. The first really good kayak he purchased was from a woman who was selling it because her husband died while using it. The guy that died was a skilled kayaker wearing a helmet. Hit his head on a submerged rock that killed him. Didn't matter the skill level or the equipment, hit something hard enough and it will kill you. He never would have gone anywhere near this level of water flow for that river.
