24. As elected officials and "lawmakers", these Republicans have an obligation to the American people to testify under oath. They should not be allowed to use the excuse of "don't remember" or to take the 5th. The GQP have a responsibility to the USA to honor a subpoena from Congress just as they themselves would expect from those subpoenaed by them. It's really unprecedented that an ex-president incited an attack on his own nation's Capitol. It's unprecedented for members of Congress to participate in "rebellion against the government" for which they were elected to serve and took an oath to protect. It's unprecedented for McCarthy and McConnell, as leaders of their party to violate their own oath by protecting those they know who were involved from being exposed, expelled and prosecuted.
