Inspector Told Residents FL Building Was In Good Shape Despite 2018 Warning

An engineering report from 2018 found major structural damage underneath the pool deck and signs that previous garage concrete repairs were failing at Champlain Towers South, though its not clear what caused the collapse. A month after reviewing the findings, an inspector told residents the building was in very good shape, according to board meeting minutes obtained by NBC News.

  2. It's not the Inspector's fault. It's the system they are a part of. The Bureaucracies in our Government are inadequate, inefficient and outdated to say the least. Systematic issues like this are part of root causes that hold America back.

  3. Since the recent cracks and spalling wasn’t showing 6 yrs ago as seen on google imagery, I suggest visual inspections by condo association every month, visual inspections by certified engineers every 5 years, and high tech Inspections every 10 years on coastline communities.

  4. Owners of the building posting job offering for engineers to inspect their building: "We are hiring an engineer who will confirm that our building is in excellent shape. Education: whatever, Experience: no, Salary: Let's talk".

    US Government: "No problem here".

  5. Some reporter should take a look at what Mr Prieto's credentials are for making the judgements he's made….No one has reported on that as far as I've seen.

  6. I'm praying for the families that have been affected by this tragedy. Rest in peace to those people that lost their lives in the condo collapse 😪

  7. many IN$PECTORS of project$ … are turning the other +WAY- in order to PASS CON$TRUCTION FLAW$ on project$… …https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/15/several-dead-in-florida-bridge-collapse.html lll and there are numerous examples of buildings and decks, cranes, trains going off the rails and etc… ?with? contractors hiring sub-contractors with many unskilled and learning on the job(as you GO) labors(and mostly immigrants) doing the work … THE EVIDENCE ARE THERE… there are natural GAS LINES leaking EVERYWHERE… in a RUSH to FINI$H FA$T …

  8. FLORIDA YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE ?
    You never said I’m leaving
    You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it
    And only God knows why.

In life I loved you completely
In death I love you still.
In my heart I hold a place
    That only you can fill.

It broke my heart to lose you
Though I know you’re not alone.
A part of me left with you
On the day God called you home.

THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE IN YOUR HEART !

  9. Obviously it WAS NOT in “very good shape “ in 2018. What a ridiculous statement. Something was horribly wrong. They just didn’t catch it.
