Gee, overturn wrongful convictions. Are they also going to overturn convictions of people who were wrongfully convicted but have already been executed?
Elevated Street Crime in urban cities. Not good.
They need to let our people go or face Yahuaha wrath on them and their families. As it was for us. It's the word of Yahusha. Shalom
Anyone disagreeing with this isn’t affected and clearly likes things the way they are. Search your soul please. You can’t keep blaming how you’re raised smh
Can we ask another country for help?🤦ðŸÂ¾â€ÂÂ♂ï¸ÂÂ
With systematic no hiring of ex felons for life creates a bad economy without a working class as stream revenues!.
No world economy has ever achieved greatness with generational families as tax payers income for private jails for stocks!
You know the U.S. runs on prison labor!
But prosecutors have conviction records to protect! No one ever considers their feelings!
It's so misleading to say we incarcerate more people per capita than any other Nation. We incarcerate more people than any nation, period. No need to bring per capita into it, it just weakens the argument
How about our government officials owning private prisons for profit?
Yeah, like an older Black woman that served her time and was released but arrested because she was in a computer class and didn't answer her phone. Her gd parole officer KNEW she was in class since they know a parolee's every movement and returning her to prison was the goal of the parole officer…just because s/he had the ability and power over her life.
PANDEMIC. New Zealand 26 deaths USA 635,783. WE LIVE IN A GENERATION WHERE TEASING AND LAUGHING AT AMERICANS IS THE NORM.
TECHNOLOGY: China has been using 5G since 2019. US are talking about moving to 5G in 2024.
INFRASTRUCTURE: Japan has used bullet trains since 1964. US has NO high speed trains.
MASS SHOOTINGS: NZ has had 1 mass shooting in the last 20 years by an Australian. USA has had 344 mass shootings in 225 days.
More lies. Nothing will change, it will only appear like change is happening.
Debtors prison was already illegal. But here we are….. this world is just as ugly as it was 4000 years ago. Our egos make us think we are better.
I need help the California Franchise Tax Board is stealing my federal stimulus money I have 3 years of overpayment they refused to address they just make up excuses to steal my money right out of my bank account to California Franchise Tax Board is stealing my stimulus money
86 people liked that there are people trying to stop convicted people been held responsible for they're behavior and actions?! What kinda of bull crap is this. Y'all want less people in prison or jails and let the criminals just have our property and murder and attempt murder innocent people bcuz they want our things we worked for?! Y'all must want to live right next door to people like that then. I got it how about you go to the jails and befriend a crook there and let him steal you blind since you want less of them to be held responsible. FRINKING NUTS!!!
My county's county jail has at the moment (My neighbor is a ranking correctional officer there and gave me this statistic last week) 1931 people incarcerated. Of them, 28 are convicted felons waiting transfer to the state prison, 291 are convicted of misdemeanors serving their sentence and 1346 are accused of felonies and are waiting trial or waiting to bond out. 266 are accused of misdemeanors and are waiting trial. Of the felonies, 881 are there solely on marijuana charges, 193 are there on more serious drug charges, 146 are there on violent felony charges, 119 are there for other non violent felony charges and 7 are waiting to be extradited to other states. Of the 881 who are waiting for trial for possession or sale of marijuana, 601 are Black, 243 are Hispanic, 33 are White and 4 are "other." that's over 68% of marijuana arrestees are Black. The % demographic for the county is 16% Black. According to the court docket there are 1196 cases pending in our county that are solely related to marijuana. 315 of those have bonded out. of those 285 are White and 28 are Black, one Hispanic and one Asian. In all likelihood Marijuana possession and sales for recreational purposes will be decriminalized either in 2022 or 2024. I don't have information about conviction rates or who ended up in the state prison system but this is one recent day last week at our county jail as provided to me by the correctional officer (who is a sergeant) who keeps track of statistics as part of his job. I should also point out that the total number of Blacks in that county jail on that day were 1291. The average bond set for Black inmates for marijuana charges is $7300 and the average bond set for White inmates for marijuana charges is $2900. Bail bondsmen expect 10% of that in cash and 90% in surety (putting up a house or other significant property as collateral). I can assure you it is easier for a White person to come up with $290 in cash and $2610 in collateral than it is for a Black person to come up with $730 in cash and $6570 in collateral.
Draw your own conclusions.
Oh and my county's population is somewhere near 980,000. Our county jail's annual budget for 2020 was about $68,000,000. If we eliminated the marijuana charges from the mix then the inmate population would drop to 1050. That's a decrease of more than 45%. That would make it possible to save the county about $30 million a year and that would translate into roughly $40 less annual tax bill per taxpayer in our county per year. The court system could also reduce it's size resulting in about another $15 million a year savings or another $20 in my pocket per year.
Two things, first is that it is obvious that being White or having money results in less likelihood of incarceration and two, marijuana is not more harmful to society than alcohol. Last year there were about 95,000 deaths attributed to alcohol. According to the CDC there were fewer than 1000 deaths attributed to marijuana use and most of those were related to respiratory conditions. Not one was due to an overdose. Of the 95,000 deaths attributed to alcohol, over 3200 were due to alcohol poisoning.
Here's a idea don't be a criminal
Crime is completely out of control states have defunded the police but hey let's release these guys back into the community. What possibly could go wrong
When you get parole you’re given about $50 no help finding a job and you’ve also got a pay your parole officer you could be paying on your legal fees from being in prison still yes most people to get out of prison end up going back Because they can’t find a job that will hire them
We need to ramp up executions. That'll help with overcrowding
I agree
It doesn't work, can't you see?
If the U.S. reinstituted public hangings, firing squads & revoked the war on drugs, a good portion of the problem would be solved. 2-parent homes & strict discipline would be the biggest benefit to society.
Let's start locking up politicians
Obviously being in prison is not enough of a deterrent to criminals.
Longer sentences are not useful as the criminal considers jail their real home. These people function best under strict supervision, with tough rules and regular meals they don't need to work for.
Prisons need to become work camps. Make them earn their keep while keeping them away from the rest of society. Make it arduous, tedious, laborious. No TVs, phones, or computers in prisons, just books. The only way they should be able to avoid the work is if they enroll in educational programs.
What work could they do?
– mail sorting
– laundry services
– quarry work
– farm labor
– road construction
– public maintenance/roadside cleanup
Yeah I don't know about that I'd rather there be ten times the amount of incarceration and no one ever released
Almost all of those in proson were beaten and abused in their childhood. Keep them in jail or prison because all they know is dominating or being dominated.
CALLING BS ON THIS ONE
ARE YOU KIDDING
ID HAVE TO SAY NEARLY 100% OF THE PEOPLE LOCKED UP DID SOMETHING ILLEGAL
THEY MAKE THIS SOUND AS THOUGH 100s OF INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE JAILED
THIS IS PROPAGANDA
The comments show how the US is so backwards, a homicide rate 5 times that of other wealthy countries and the answer is to lock up more and more people when that policy is a proven failure, worst in the world in fact for a wealthy nation. The definition of insanity is …..
Cotton is a domestic terrorist supporter. We have too many of the wrong people in jail and not enough of the right people, Trump and Cotton for starters.
Basically they want criminals to feel welcomed. They don't teach accountability ..so..they want us to suffer and pay
Astralogs change my life for the better I got paid through astralogs service check them out
