9. She must be so confused about what happened to her mom. I follow a wildlife rescue and they use a "heartbeat teddy" for baby animals that are alone (for times when they don't have others of their kind to put them with). It has a device inside it that makes a heartbeat sound/thump. They used it for a little fox cub and she cuddled with it every day until they had another little orphaned fox cub to put with her.

10. "… hopefully release her back to the wild." That's key. They shouldn't be in captivity. … The koala population is not currently listed as endangered, but is "declining and vulnerable." I'm curious whether koalas ever adopt orphans. I know elephants adopt orphaned elephant calves enthusiastically.

22. Sorry to be the "glass half empty" guy, but when I saw the thumbnail I was praying the stuffed animal wasn't a Koala. Personally, I though that was rather cruel. Imagine your mother abandons you during a wildfire, and what do your rescuers do? They give you lifeless artificial half-sized replica of her to bring you comfort.

    Reverse that for a moment. Bunch of Koalas rescue you, and for comfort they bring you a slightly-off, pint-sized Real Doll that resembles your mom.

    Humans… smh.
