What people don't seem to understand is that abortion bans don't prevent abortions, the only thing they create is an environment that kills the same amount of babies but also women at much higher rates. The truth is, the same science that shows us that abortion bans don't work is also responsible for substantially increasing the number of babies healthily delivered and women surviving the ordeal. In other words, and as counter-intuitive as it might sound, the legality of abortions and the science around it save both women and babies in the long run.

    And that's without mentioning the socioeconomic impact of being forced to having a baby that isn't wanted and who ultimately might not get the attention nor the love any kid deserves and needs in order to become a fully functioning citizen. What are the consequences on society in terms of criminality, welfare, healthcare systems, sum total of happiness etc?

    So all in all, abortion is a part of healthcare which is a part of modern medicine, which is itself solely responsible for saving millions of babies and women all over the globe in the last 200 years or so; we became the civilizations we are today thanks to it, not despite of it.
