Father of shooting victim reacts to Parkland shooter guilty plea

1. Is not good to be bullied in school he got bullied i know how it feels at lista he regret what he did and said sorry with his mental problems and the drugs he use to do destroys your thoughts people cant think right when they have depresion anxiety and with drugs.

2. You have to be 21 to smoke and drink now but you can buy a gun at 19?

5. My deepist sympathy for that man and all the families that lost there child,I hope that scum bag gets the death penalty. I belevie the gun laws need looking at maybe having a licence like us in the UK.

18. I commend this man's strength to carry on. He must know for sure his son is there with him every step of the way saying, "c'mon dad, let's keep on going. I'm right here with you…always."

19. The guns is not the problem. It’s the people with them. I own a gun store. I have turned down purchases I didn’t feel were safe for the community. By law I don’t have to sell anyone anything. There needs to be better laws on who can and cannot purchase them.

Its incredibly sad to hear the victims parents go through these emotions, as a father of a beautiful 5yr old daughter and 2 yr old son i pray we find ways to prevent these tragedies but ultimately banning ar-15s will not stop these shootings. The deadliest school shooting in history is the Va tech shooting. the shooter used 2 hand guns and killed 33 people.

    Instead of asking why anyone can purchase an ar-15 why are we not asking why HE could purchase an ar-15. Someone who had been identified by local authorities and by the FBI as a threat. Multiple people knew in January this man had fantasies about shooting up a school which is why the FBI was tipped off about it and failed to follow protocol that ultimately would have saved 17 lives. In addition to a history of disturbing social media posts which are available to all Gov't authorities. Removing guns from the equation would not fix the core of the problem and its sad that emotions will ultimately drive people to believe thats the case.

    The ar-15 did not kill these beautiful children a deranged 19 year old did.

22. In my country we had a case where mentally ill woman entered schoold with a knife, was endangering students and ended up killing one boy who was trying to help the girl she was threatening. So this shows that tragedies can happen even without guns, but that doesn't mean that the father is not right. Assault weapon should not been awailable to 18, 19 years old kids, certainly not without some deep mental or other check. In USA, you have a right to own weapon, OK, but there is a difference between hunting rifle or pistol for self-defense and an asault rifle.

23. Absolutely right! This is our social responsibility, we need to make the right choice as citizens, politicians and people with influence. We owe it to all children to take responsibility. “Empower my pain to do more…..
