Easier to have control with no public phones.
This payphones used to reminds me that life was good back then now its sucks.
lol in boot camp there was always a huge line for these things
Welp if everyone cells gets knocked out no one can call 911
Or what of some crazy was to happened and they the police I know in Cleveland Ohio we have pole with police call buttons on it but the police doesn’t pay no attention to them people are taking this light hearted but in all reality if they can provide free wifi creating something that allow someone to make a phone call for a small charge per minute would for help anyone who can’t afford a phone lost it or had been stolen need help plus if they thought about the city will still win some type of money back if they willing to give out free wifi
This is been going on for years sadly yes we have phone now and day
But again we have homeless people or many time people phone get stolen or broken yes putting free wifi and charging port can solve a few problems but again for those who simply don’t have a phone or again it’s recently broke or have been stolen they should at least create a more update version on the phone where they can pay 00.50 cent per minute or some because 9 time of ten a lot of the homeless people really don’t have enough and maybe that one phone call can make a payment difference
Give that reporter a raise. He's cool
How quickly New Yorkers forget…
on 9/11 when the North Tower collapsed, it took major antennas with it, including those for cell phone use. People had to search for phone booths with land lines, and wait in very long lines, to notify family and friends! ðŸ¤â€Â
Also with cell phones, service is spotty during high winds/storms, and with large BUILDINGS blocking the signal!
🤣
I know because when I was in NYC
August 2017, on top of the Empire State Building, I wasn't able to keep a signal, while talking on my phone, it kept cutting out! ðŸ˜ÂÂ
Who needs pay phones if you have iPhones to text your family and friends?
Now when you buy a bouquet of flowers to mourn the loss of a phone booth dude you got a problem 🤣 move on.
How much was charged for a call on a pay phone before they were carted away? Last I knew, it was a quarter, but that was decades ago.
Makes me sad because I think it useful for them to exists for people to use them let’s say your poor and that’s the only way to makes a phone call ☎︠we need them !
Public pay phones to hard to trace. You know they want to track everybody and New York City likes to lead the way in that.
That’s awesome it’s being placed in a museum.
When they went up to 50 cents I was mad lol. I used them often & bought phone minute & long distance cards. I think there may be a few at the train/greyhound bus station that still work I seen a few years ago… <3
The era pay phones was long gone especially where I'm from I'm surprised they still had them in New York lol
I remember being a teenager calling my dad collect many times from a pay phone to say my car broke down.
WTF is a payphone? (Just kidding)
But it's about time…. those things should have been removed 10 years ago. Most useless invention ever. Put them in a museum! That's where they belong.
Not like folks carry much change anyway.
There should at least be emergency phones around the city tho
Lol there’s still a few pay phones left around in socal😜
I still think they are necessary what if your phone dies and there’s an emergency? As people are not comfortable with allowing someone borrow their phone on the spot.
If the UK gets rid of the RED phone booth. What is Doctor WHO going to use. I am glad NYC is placing WIFI and recharging stations I live in a city without this convenience. You should see what people will do to try to recharge their dead phone because they do not have a cell portable recharging battery? Its SAD ?
At least keep one!!!
Well by God I told you they wouldn't stop with our f**** Confederate statues……
