The drought is so vast that it stretches from California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. Like most surrounding states, about 80% of New Mexico is under extreme drought and scientists are now considering it a megadrought brought on by changing climate.

  1. You lived there all your life right you really believe this is going to pass what do you believe the Tipping Point has been past of no return hey it happens so all those capitals and buy gold immediately well the price is still low on that it's a shame you might get away living there on a small well but it'll be limited and then again you going to have to fight off a little people to get that couple glass of water

  2. In poor countries like India they plant trees in the middle of their farming fields. In the western world they have huge treeless agriculture fields thus no trees that can make the hydrological cycle work. No trees= drought.

  3. God bless our farmers! We are so grateful for all you do -all of your hard work, investment, patience, and fortitude. Thank you for feeding this world.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the stress of our lives especially since last year that when we go to the grocery store or market we focus on what we need and forget what all it took to get that food to our store then to our house. Thank you farmers! We'd be lost without you! God bless you and your families!

  4. Why is it that pipes can be stretched across America for oil but no one seems to think about doing the same from the areas with the annual flooding to the drought areas. Yes it will cost a lot but how much is it now costing for flood recovery and lost lands due to drought. Just think if all that excess water could fall into underground waterways.

  5. Hey nbc I've got a great idea. Let's turn around in a minute and do stories about how great all the immigration is. How we need amnesty fid the 20-30 million illegals. How we should take in millions of asylum seekers. Then let's hope our viewers are brain dead and don't know the MASSIVE environmental impacts of adding people to this country. Every new immigrant needs 100 gallons of NEWLY SOURCED fresh water day. They also will need one acre of open space destroyed. They will emit carbon and produce refuse too. Worse, FAR worse, is they bring third world birth rates that are 2x the norm.

  6. So the “journalists” do their reporting from Death Valley or Stovepipe Wells.

Nice try to make the story relevant….

  7. The problem is that they want to raise cattle and grow crops in the desert. A desert is not a place to raise cattle or grow crops. Also they need to stop developing homes in the desert. We are trying to go against Mother Nature and Mother Nature keeps on reminding us who is in charge.
