By the Numbers: The battle between rock legend Neil Young and Spotify

1. I fuxking hope Neil Young will remember. JRE don't need him around. Joe Rogan allll dayyyy or nighttttt.

2. Shocking that a 60s rebel would now land on the side of suppression of speech and thought. What a sell out. He doesn't even own his own music! He sold half of it to a multi national corporation for 150 million dollars. A literal sell out.

3. Shutting down the free speech of those you disagree with is a central element of fascism. You could look it up.

5. No offense to Neil and Joni (whoever she is), people under 55 do not really know who you are. They may like something if they hear it and say "oh, is that who sings that, I didn't know what they sang". If they don't want people to listen to their stuff that is their freedom of choice. Too bad that won't accept freedom to like various people. Sorry, but most of us don't know and won't miss you with this attitude…..

6. Who cares? Most of us who grew up listening to Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, have owned – or maybe, pirated – their music long ago. Joe Rogan? He's always breaking new ground! And Rogan is not wrong about the "vaccines"! My GF and I are both vaccinated, and each of us got covid from completely different sources (I hadn't seen her in nearly 2 weeks, and she tested positive just days before I did!). And don't give me the garbage that "the vaccine prevented you from dying of covid". How do you know? You have a crystal ball? Can you tell me, with 100% certainty, that my body would not have fought off the virus on its own? NO! I know you can't! All I can tell you is that the vaccine doesn't prevent covid, AND you can't tell me it saved my life, because you have no idea whether or not that is the case! Freedom of speech!

7. I had the understanding that Spotify removed Neil’s music as a response to his ultimatum. I understand I may be splitting hairs here, but the way it’s reported gives a different narrative.

   It’s actually pathetic. The biggest star they can get to try to take down Joe Rogan is Neil Young. Maybe 30 years ago, Neil might’ve had enough clout to pull this off… But in the year 2022, someone needs to just tell their grandpa to sit down.

8. This was pure virtue signaling that exposed his hypocrisy. Nobody would have had an issue if Neil had revoked his publishing rigjhts on that platform. Could have even written the CEO and explained why he was doing it. Instead, Neil goes out of his way to make this public. Not only to virtue signal but hoping it would instigate thousands to bully and intimidate Spotify into outright censorship. Neil is being a fascist, yet arrogantly pretends to be the pious one doing the right thing. He forgets back in the 60's tehre was also a "moral majority" that didn't like what he was saying. Americans that felt Young was spredaing misinformation. Like his views on capitalism. The man has made millions, including the recent $150 MILLION by sleling control of his publishing. Why didn't Young donate every cent to Covid victims?
