I'd be friends with this guy. He's no dummy. Living life not ignorantly.
why is this news? the guy is in the bear's home… if he gets eaten it's his fault.
That hiker did the exact opposite of every bear encounter training ever taught. You make yourself large, stand your ground, and yell at the bear to spook it. Don’t retreat and let it get close to you
The bear is used to humans at the park and is not feeling threatened. Also not showing any signs of aggression. I once ran into a mother and cub and she just mosied along while the cub climbed trees and watched me. It was awesome!
This is exactly why I don’t go to any forest or National Park….it’s their home not mine….
Bear: "Is there no end to these hikers, even on a Wednesday?"

People should stop toying with bears for a video and spray the bear. You are teaching him it’s ok to follow people. The next person may not be so lucky.
Maybe he just wanted a hug.
I'm glad he made it out alive
Wow this is scary
I didn’t think we had brown bears in wa. I thought only black bears 😱
From experience bear spray only makes them angry and agitated and more likely to attack. Maybe not always but its a last resort
Just back off the trail. Go into the bush. Get out of the way.
Bear doesn't act aggressive and seems to be looking for a ripe patch of berries! Good job keeping your calm wits about you! I'll be there in a few days.
WOW! Well done at keeping calm. I was camping at Mount Rainier last week and we were warned the animals are very active.
Once again, failure. People holding the camera incorrectly. Turn it landscape as designed. This is a serious testament of how common sense is going extinct.
Amazing animals! 99/100, if you can remain calm and give them their space, they'll do the same for you. What a cool experience.
I know the # 1 Rule is to NEVER run/ turn your back on a Predator you encounter because that's when they think you're prey but damn it will take a lot for me to not run XD
That looks like the silver falls hiking trail!
Bear just getting video for his tiktok
If you're in a public Trail is there any responsibility to shout out to anybody else that might be on the trail that there's a bear present or? I don't know it might be a dumb question I'm not a hiker I'd like to. I just don't want my ass chewed off by a bear
So you just trained a bear that it is ok to follow a human. What about the young toddler that walks away from mom and dad ? It happens! Spray the bear and show it who is boss , train it to not come around man.
Bears like to use trails, too.
How did ABC News get this and post it? This is something Viral Hog would post. Is ABC taking memes and rando vids now?
Ahhh🥱🥱🥱 chasing by bears isjust a normal thing in BC, Canada
Thank goodness he had bear spray! He's so calm about it…excellent example to us all.
It is just a kid. It is intimidating but people jog with little protection. Give yourself an opportunity to have a great fun physical exchange with a long spear and some helmet when venturing into the eating grounds of these precious bear.
Bear is thinking: Walking backwards? Talking to himself? This guy is nuts.
Trail needs a Bear Lane

ALSO: Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
I go to this park all the time Definitely bears/bear evidence Everywhere as should be expected
He may have wanted to eat you. 😉
I was waiting for the hiker to turn around to resume his walk … only to find the bear now in front of him! That bear seemed pretty docile to me (sitting here at home)!
Always carry bear spray. A firearm as well. Also be very aware, a few times I've experienced very strange things out there.
If you a rock is thrown at you, best to pack up and leave as soon as you can. 700 million acres of wild forest in the US, who knows what's out there. Native Americans know more. I'll leave it at that.
He obviously doesn't know anything about being around bears.
You always stand your ground, make yourself look bigger by raising your backpack above your head or turning your shirt inside between ur arms above your head to create a large towering figure. Then you need to take with authority and really loud. Tell that bear to gtfoB over and over. They get confused and run off. Bear spray isn't enough anymore these days, sadly enough. 😞
Dude shitting on hims elf lol
When Lewis and Clark made their expedition there were extremely aggressive bears that would attack them on sight. Bears were the apex predators and knew it until men arrived with rifles. The avoidance we see now is partly an adaptation.
What trail were you hiking?
Very intense😧😮😯
His calm demeanor 😮
