  1. I've been a teacher for 12 years and I make 85k per year for working 10 months a year plus multiple 3 day weekends, 2 weeks off in Xmas, 1 week off in spring break, 10 sick days per year that I can use whenever i want and they accumulate as I now have 59 of them…I also work from 820 to 230 and 50 minutes of that time is a prep and 40 minutes is a lunch, 25 minutes of it are passing periods…yes I do stay longer and don't leave at exactly 230 but I stay no later than 430 and honestly, as I've taught the same class for 10 years I could easily leave at 230 if I didn't want to do the best job I could for the kids…

The job is markedly harder than people think and it's not for the faint of heart…trust me I'll advocate for higher pay…but from my perspective, I think I'm compensated more than fairly…

Our salary schedule at year 25 tops at 101k also…I'll be 45 by that time and the top salary will probably be raised by that point as well…

Some states are worse than others tho for sure, I'm in CA

  2. I am in a depressive state knowing that i might have choosen the wrong career. Knowing that although i enjoy working with my students i will never be able to survive on my salary alone. I went to school to get an education and currently pursuing my masters and for what? a $50 dollar pay raise in my salary?

  3. Yes increase pay, but that isn't the end of it. Be more supportive, decrease their none teaching work load, etc. People forget that many places give them life time pensions, so our tax money already goes to pay for that. Lastly, paying more doesn't mean better outcomes. So I'm willing to pay someone more if they are providing better quality to justify the extra cost.

  4. Glad I’m nearing the end of my career- no one is entering this profession any longer. I do not recommend it. I do worry for our future though. Kids today are not very self-motivated and people having the most kids are not our best and brightest adults. My parents with 5 kids are on welfare and barely literate if at all. America is one big dumb country!

  5. teachers dont teach anything. they should all be paid 30k and weeded out to become TAs where one video lectures is given to all kids so that they can have equal education.

  6. when and how can we get rid of radical usless so call teachers who just milking their position? how do we stop colleges form over charging for classes? That is the biggest problem for families and estudents.

  7. Why are teachers hiding their agenda? Like in some states where they asked parents to sign waivers saying that they will not listen in on their kids online classes

  8. I dated a schoolteacher she was paid $45000 a year but when you add a schoolday(8-11 hours) plus grading and preparing lessons at home(3-5 hours) grading tests(2-4 hours) so practically would be working a 15-20 hour day with a 30 min break(which is still supervising children during recess) this is something I’ve heard from many of her colleagues and friends who when balanced out it comes to 12-15/hr which is the same you can make with no degree working retail, customer service and in the food service industries

  9. Let's see. Pro athletes even the last man on the roster of basically any Major League sport make more than teachers. Now the purpose that they serve is to give the gamblers an outlet and to feed the adrenaline junkies whereas teachers actually shape Young minds. So I would say make up your own mind 😏

  10. Whoever says "Laa ilaha illallah" (None is worthy of worship except Allah) with sincerity and dies in that state of faith, he will enter Paradise.
