What about the parades for the millions of living soldiers dying by suicide and plagued with depression and PTSD? Or the millions of soldiers suffering from drug use disorders including alcoholism and opioid use?? You see these things require lots of money and resources to address, so naturally our country doesn’t really care. So many “patriots†love to put on these runs and symbolic events and services for the dead, which is obviously fine, but let’s care more about the living. Running with an anemic an flag billowing behind you does nothing for the homeless veteran living under a bridge in abject squalor and hooked on two drugs and hearing voices from psychosis.
