When I heard he was claiming he didn't pull the trigger, I thought it would be some ridiculously insane and complicated malfunction excuse to clear him of any responsibility. This excuse is exactly the same as pulling the trigger. Alec Baldwin is known in the industry to be loose and ignorant of gun safety on sets, ironically considering his stance on firearms. I'm amazed his lawyers would allow him to say these things in an interview as he just admitted to a negligent homicide. If he is not charged, it shows the level of corruption of the DA in that area. Any average Joe that would have done this in the same jurisdiction would have the book thrown at them.

40. The first law of gun safety is checking the gun, frankly you cannot rely on anyone else to make sure the fire arm is safe when it is your hand. This "protocol" he speaks of is nonsense. He had the gun, he locked the hammer back, he pointed the gun and THEN he pulled the trigger. Any sensible person knows that any round discharged from a gun is the responsibility of the shooter. And if any private citizen who would've done this would already be behind bars with charges.
