Hey, there's my old church!
lived in Bartonville for 21 years and Gerald was crossing guard when i used to walk to school or ride my bike there. He kept every kid safe and loved what he did. He will be missed by many and he for sure loved what he did. Thank you Gerald for everything!!
Gerald was there everyday. Never a mean bone in that man's body, truly a person sent from the heavens. Have a great retirement Gerald!

Great reporting and beautyful story. This man has been a true asset to his community. Thoes are hard to come by. Much LOVE.
I’ve only been at this school for a year but I love Gerald so so much! It’s been so much fun having him at our school! â¤ï¸ÂÂ
He has earned the hearts of the community by doing a simple job that meant a big thing, take care of those in charge of the communities future by letting them safely cross the street.
Legends never die
85 wow. Salute you.
He took care of so many..what a man!
That touched my heart. It was so beautiful to see his community come together to celebrate his career and legacy like that. Such an honorable man with great work ethic and values.
This honestly really sad. No one should ever do the same thing for almost 7 decades.
What a waste of taxpayers money using those police and firetrucks for this Bullshit
Aww 💓💓

Those tshirts will end up in a goodwill.

After nearly 7 decades deciding which kids live and which die he has decided to retire.

MOST LIKELY single and alone too with that kind of job and today's women.
Wow what a person the real hero !!!
Very nice.. God bless em â¤🇨🇦
wow!!, so emotional.
Sad life. He be dead .
He never got promoted to school administration?? Or even senior crossing guard? in 67 years?? Jesus am I the only one that thinks this is really sad?
One more reason to believe in humanity. All the young people in this school will keep this example of dedication in their hearts and reproduce it in their own way with their community.
God Bless you Mister Gerald Beckette
True hero
It’s great to see those silent hero’s who deserve congratulations, get it!
