4. What is a derecho?
   A derecho (pronounced similar to "deh-REY-cho" in English) is a widespread, long-lived wind storm associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms variously known as a squall line, bow echo, or quasi-linear convective system. Although a derecho can produce destruction similar to that of a tornado, the damage typically occurs in one direction along a relatively straight swath. As a result, the term "straight-line wind damage" sometimes is used to describe derecho damage.

6. I live a county away from the damage that happened. This Storm was a beast. It wasn’t like a hurricane where you get a break and the winds let up. It hit with just a severe thunderstorm warning and those winds lasted from 30-45 minutes. The front line winds hit Tama and within 16 minutes they hit Cedar Rapids. All the while still sustaining those 100 mph. winds. America doesn’t care now, no help except for the great linemen hooking power back up. But the rest of you will feel it when gas prices go up, and feed goes up for your farms across the U.S.
