The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 can do fast and/or real-time AI generation on-device: locally and offline. I tested it to see how it can create videos and images from text prompts, and avatars based on what the camera sees.

  1. Doing it offline isn't impressive, its been possible with command line stuff or gui on a PC for years, since the beginning basically, the Internet wasn't ever really required. Doing it offline on a phone is impressive tho

  2. Cool tech, but I think it has a huge potential to be very destructive to a very creative and fun industry that lots of young people enjoy working in. Just like music there should be mechanisms in place so revenue is paid to the creators of the original imagery used in the AI models.. people don't understand that AI does not really create anything, it's just filtering, mixing and shuffling bits around. By replacing actual creative humans with this, were not doing ourselves a service..but hey, quick satisfaction

  3. So what phone is it. cause we need this kind of tech. Samsung AI gonna have a problem if they continue the Year 2025 subscription in their AI phone if other device can do it offline.

  4. I think it's cool that more can be done on device. offline software should not be so undeveloped. its a shame there's so little offline processing that could be integrated into software that can work on 9th generation flaship arm SOCs.

  5. Definitely would be a game changer for those without big budgets to use online versions that may charge for better imagery and video. I'm interested in how this will get better, especially because it is offline.
