Technical difficulties kept the Friday Debate Podcast from releasing last week, but after a lot of fiddling around with the audio, we’re bringing you a DOUBLE FEATURE this week for the FDP.
Today, Josh is joined by the usual group of hosts to talk science fiction – well, not necessarily sci-fi but instead the kinds of technology we wanted while growing up that we might be seeing today. We bounce around the ideas of jet-packs, virtual reality, smart homes, and all of their implications – while getting caught in a lot of tangents that make for one of the longest editions of the podcast we’ve had yet.
Come join us and don’t forget to listen to the podcast on all of the podcasting networks, as well has following us all on social media – the links for everything are in the full post for the podcast below! Soon we will be taking your own questions and topics, so give us all a shoutout all over the place with the hashtag #FDP!

3D technology to build houses in a week, sound beaming technology and a whole lot more guys. you would have done a whole lot more.ÂÂÂ
and i am with Joe dubbed over subbed at anytime
… And as far as the tech nerds of the past probably didn't have the media technology to share their findings.
You guys bring a nice twist to podcasts. It's so easy for the topic to become repetitive but talks like this get my attention. Good stuff.
the discussion about the iot with everything talking to eachaother is totally crap. sorry but even if you would find any crazy reason for your lights talking to your washing maschine, which I'm sure you wont, which code on earth would hinder your lights randomly switching on your washing maschine just cause it thinks its time to cause you switched it on the same time last week on the same day. what you want is an android for yoir home that regulates all stuff you dont want to be bothered with. wake up. the decisions humans make in every second cant be replicated by your devices cause that would make you obsolete in every way.
I'm really looking forward to something like the Nerve Gear from the anime Sword Art Online. Imagine having a motorcycle helmet or that thing that LeVar Burton wears in Star Trek, and closing your eyes and waking up in a world that looks and feels exactly like the real world. I would love for that to happen, except without the millions of people getting stuck in the Virtual World with their only escape being death or beating the virtual world's game. And maybe if it got enough mainstream attention, it could be used for more than just gaming; in the anime virtual reality was even being (experimentally) used to treat terminally ill patients who had little hope for survival. Well, those patients were still still playing a game, but were being treated while doing so. So yeah, in short, I'm looking forward to 99% virtual reality immersion.ÂÂÂ
