Google managed to improve just about every aspect of the Pixel’s camera, and even added a secondary telephoto lens. But is that (and some minor spec updates) worth upgrading from the Pixel 3?

  1. One word: NO. Sure that I'm not getting the newer faster chipset and newer dual camera hardware in the Pixel 3, but the fact that it has dual wide and ultrawide selfie camera alongside that beautiful 18:9 screen is the reason why I'm staying with Pixel 3.

  2. I have the pixel 3 and 4. Definitely prefer the pictures on the 3, the colors are richer and more beautiful. On the 4, the colors are probably more "real" and appear washed out and the phone screen and pictures have a slightly greenish hue to them. Some people may like this more real tone, but I no longer get the beautiful color pops on my pets pictures, they're just kinda washed out and normal. The portrait shots have even better blur, but again, the colors are too real and washed out, no color pop or contrast like before. Also, I notice more pixelating in the pics, which wasn't noticable on the pixel 3. The face unlocked is actually super fast, I don't even miss the finger scanner. Pictures outdoors in full light are always the best for both these phones. The 4 is larger and heavier than the sleek 3 (My thumb can no longer reach the top of the screen to swipe at alerts), but also you can find much nicer phone cases for it, which is a plus.

  3. Am I the only one who wants to be able to look at their phone WITHOUT it unlocking? That's why I want fingerprint, not face unlock

  4. i just thought that in some photos pixel 3 looks better than pixel 4. I just pray and hope google don't deliberately downgrade pixel 3 / xl camera just to have pixel 4 / xl sells better. Apple did just that with its battery in past and thats so crazy!

  5. I'm sitting here wanting a pixel 4 like, wheres my finger print going to be read from!?!?! Face unlock is STUPID and gimmicky in my opinion.

  6. Not only no – but HECK no! And it has exactly diddly to do with the (improved) camera hardware. Why? The Camera app takes exactly ZERO advantage of the new hardware (it is just as usable with earlier Pixels); did you use the same app in the Pixel 3? I have installed this APK on my own Pixel 3a; there is exactly no reason it can't be installed on ANY Pixel running Android 10 (basically, any Pixel). Throw in the lack of fingerprint-unlock with the Pixel 4 (vs. the 3a in particular), and if you have a problematical Pixel 3, you should consider either a refurbished Pixel 3/3XL, or a new 3a/3a XL instead.

  7. I like what Google is doing. That being said, I personally believe it's a complete waste of money to upgrade your phone after one year. My P3 is still running strong and the pictures still draw compliments from family and friends.

The smaller battery on the P4 scares me. Mainly because Google STILL hasn't corrected battery drain issues and ram management on the P3.

Maybe they should get the P3 right first before moving on to the next project.

  8. This is just a general opinion. But I am a little bothered that Google is sending a free phone to "EVERY person with a you tube account who does phone reviews. I am looking at a crazy number of unboxing videos than I normally would with other phones. My main concern is when it comes to developing an unbiased, objective opinions, I don't know where to look.

  9. I didn't know battery was such an issue with people. Maybe I don't notice it cause working or I'm busy doing things. If I'm out I have a charger in my car and plug it in for those 5min.
Are you all making spread sheets and power points on your phone?

  10. Pixel 4 unlocks even when your eyes are closed 😂 It’s time for Google to stop making phones and concentrate on Software 😂 Gone are those awesome Nexus days 🙍🏻‍♂️

  11. I think it's the best pixel phone in last couple of years. Don't know why it's getting so much hate. I definitely prefer a big forehead than any notch or punch hole.

  12. I have the 3 XL and battery life has not been an issue. I'm not going to upgrade until the 6 most likely. My bro in law did upgrade though from the 3 (he had the 2 before that)

I'm coming from the 6P. Was not able to use the trade in discount nor could I use it as a business expense write off 😉
