Kodak is back! Sort of! We took at look at the Instamatic 5 Android smartphone at CES. It’s got a 5-inch display at 720p and is running Android 4.4.2. Kodak’s placed some emphasis on the camera as well, as you’d expect.

Welp, who else loves Kodak but is seriously disappointed with this. Uh-huh.
what kind of film does it use?
I found it hard enough to believe that Amazon made a smartphone, but now Kodak! And there both garbage! Who's gonna make a smartphone next? Toyota!?
lol whose gonna buy this shit? "D
why would they reduce the share options? Like what if I wanted to share a photo through NFC, Bluetooth or WI-FI direct I can't do that
I think that was a good Good idea need more camera Company making phones
fail..
Horrible…
I'll just get this and a Bluetooth mouse
Did they not learn anything from the fire phone? Just because it runs Android and its a "smartphone" don't expect it to fly off the shelves.
0:39 You know those icon packs that put a box around icons that it doesn't have custom icons for as a cheap attempt to make them all look uniform? This looks like that except this is the stock icon pack.
1:16 Why is the capture button in the middle at the bottom? She is saying the words "simplified camera experience" all the while showing us the worst button placement ever conceived in a smartphone.
2:16 So by taking out social network options it makes the phone simpler to use? I'd rather be able to share to all my social networks. Hopefully this doesn't mean they are going to nerf share intent.
Moral: Don't build phones around one feature.
From kodak I expected more than a 'simplified camera' since every phone has this at the moment. What I am really looking forward is a phone that has more camera features than the average like manual focus, OIS, ISO settings, RAW mode…
Why would you customize the UI? Just stick to the stock Android! Opportunity missed!
No thanks to this
What a horrible looking phone! She's trying hard to sell it. That UI looks like my nighters phone cause she cant see. Another fail that no one is going to buy except for the 5 who don't know better.
FAIL!!!
Junk/
I know that battery gon suck
why is the shutter button way off to the centre? dont like the camera UI.
I can imagine how Kodak got to this point; after doing some survey, they realised Kodak was a brand strongly recognised by older folk, so they then dumbed it down to cater for them. Wrong move. They should of gone in the opposite direction; made a phone packed with advanced image editing and made a custom slimline snap-on printer, something that snaps on and fits like a glove. By standardising on the phone size and shape, they could of introduced a range of snap-on accessories, like a mini-projector.
When I heard Kodak phone, I thought lumia 1020 with stock android and a custom camera app with extra features not this overly simplified phone for first time smartphone users. Disappointed
Junk…
Shouldn't this just be an app(s) or a launcher?? This astounds me how this woman can even present this ridiculous phone with a straight face. And props to Phil for being polite enough to just go along with it while she was standing there.
I wouldn't use this phone if they gave it to me for free maby use it for……. well i tried to think of something i'd use it for but i couldn't its as bad as my grammar . LOL
EPIC FAIL BAHAHA omg these companys spending so much money just to fail
I thought it was going to be an instamax phone. Like an old polaroid where it prints pictures form the phone. Meh
The UI is dated and there is nothing special about the device.
Looks very oldschool on the ui. I would have thought they would have put there effort into a crazy good camera and software. Thanks for the video.
no thanks
Kodak, here's a little idea for you
how about creating a stock-android device with your own camera hardware + camera app? I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes, well at least better than this abomination.ÂÂÂ
you DON'T have to do this crap.ÂÂÂ
oldies
I like the music in the background of this video
Wtf is this
Why would someone buy this
I was hoping something great with the camera: (
This is going to be like the Fire Phone. Its gonna be a flop. Seriously, what makes these manufacturers think that anyone's going to buy a phone so tailored to a specific task while not being good at it? Want to use amazon? Open up the web page. Want to have a phone with all these camera features? Buy a modern camera. Want a smartphone? Buy on that's versatile and not locked down to a niche.
This UI looks horrible
