Back in 2011, two things were reaching the peak of their popularity: #HTC and #3D. Here’s the crazy phone from ten years ago that combines the two, the one and only #HTCEVO3D

  1. i still have mine and i WILL buy any new 3D mobile that comes with bigger screen than this…it`s awesome to watch movies in 3D without glasses…the battery still holds a day no problem

  2. omg I had this phone but I didn't remember how small it was! And the cameras were taking like 50% of the back! 😅
I remember the 3D was really good when viewed in the correct distance

  3. I literally switched carriers to Rogers to get this phone. It was my favourite HTC phone ever. I had it until I bricked it trying to root it 😂
    Called it the 3DVO

  4. I still have my HTC Sensation 4G, although I bricked it by rooting it. The hardware is in great condition nonetheless. I’m really enjoying this series! Thanks for the great times. 🙂

  5. I had the Sprint version of this phone. It ended up being pretty forgettable. Now, the HTC Evo 4g, that phone 🔥

  6. I don't own it but I remember when I first saw it, it looks so cool and the 3D was just cherry on top. The design actually still looks cool, kinda like sports car morphed into phone design lol. Back then, 3D was envisioned as the future for everything from TV to phones. Not great but exciting nonetheless. Good ol days …

  7. Had the HTC EVO not the 3D I loved it. HTC was premium android. Before Samsung hit the market. Damn shame how HTC crumbled in the mobile space.

  8. The only 3D device from that era that really feels worth it to me is the Nintendo 3DS, just given its amazing library of games. I am probably in the minority as I have always loved playing with the 3D effect turned on and never have had issues with it. The improvements with the face-tracking features on the New 3DS models I still find very impressive.

  9. Well that explains why HTC entered the VR market. Also, your '3D' photos can be viewed on VR headsets I believe.

  10. All HTC had to do to make a successor to the EVO 4G was put in a dual core, more on board storage and the same or better camera. The last thing they definitely didn't do…

  11. I've still got mine. I remember that the Sprint version came bundled with the Green Hornet movie in 3d. I watched about 10 minutes of it and had to stop because it made me nauseous. Don't know if it was just the movie or the 3d, lol.

  12. This and the LG Optimus 3D was fun phones. But 3D was mostly a gimmick as it was not really usable for anything other than fun and to show your friends.

But it's a pretty huge fail comparing a cheap IPS LCD display to a OLED display….. A cheap IPS or TN LCD today still looks just as bad as this one in therms of contrast. It's just how the display works.. I avoid IPS panels at all cost because of this. 900-1500:1 native contrast ratio is BAD. VA LCD's have 5-6 times more contrast and more with FALD. And OLED is basicly "infinite"

  13. Headphone jack is actually mostly still alive in phones today… Just not in premium phones. Only midrange and cheap phones. A sad development :/
A hazzle when you MUST have it in many cases. Alternative work-arounds are often not as good. And having an adapter in my pocket at all times is not an option
