    There are good reasons. Basically, wind, wave, solar, concedes that fossil fuels are the only way to power prosperity. They are technologically sub-optimal relative to magma energy; the endless heat energy of the earth. They are diffuse forms of clean energy; energy gathered from a large area and concentrated – as opposed to the constant high grade, concentrated heat energy of the earth. Wind/solar/wave power are built in the course of politics convinced of limits to growth; a physical manifestation of the myth that fossil fuels are synonymous with prosperity, and sacrifice of the economic good is necessary to the environmental good.
    But on the facts established by Nasa/Sandia Labs in 1982, the sustainability debate of the past 40 years should have been between scarce and dirty fossil fuels and clean magma/electricity/hydrogen energy abundance. The Magma Energy Project should have refuted 'The Limits to Growth' (Meadows, 1974), and environmentalists should have been demanding endless clean magma energy to desalinate and irrigate, recycle and capture carbon; not demanding we turn out all the lights and eat bugs to save the world.
