Special shout out to the ENTIRE APS ARMY for all the support! It's all of YOU who keep me driven to bring the best possible content I can to this platform. Just want to say thank you.
What no Ford in the UK? I know a guy who did 4 years in there, they don't lock any of the doors and you can get a pass to spend weekends at home. You can walk down into town and go for a drink so long as you come back at night
A life sentence in Norway is a maximum of about twelve years that is the longest sentence a judge will give out!
That one on the Scottish prison isn't quite how you've been told! Also it's a D-Cat prison which means they can go home up to five days a week very low security and generally soft crimes like fraud…
Why is this guy talking to me about prisons. I just wanna swim
Of course our prisons aren't going to be like that which they are overseas because our judicial system is designed to set up all people for failure to make sure that they keep failing at life.
Tell this to the hardliners who still believe that "Tough on Crime" works
First in a 2 week
Hey i live in 10 min from Champ Dollon in Switrzerland Geneva… i know some peopple who work there … or bein lock there 😅 lol … coool video 💪ðŸÂ¾👌ðŸÂ½
Now I know where I can get locked up and still have my friends around… that aren't human.
I bet the ones who don't learn get sent to high level prisons in other countries.
It's still Scotland. Dark & freezing 365.
"Humane" treatment cuts down on violence. Cleanliness, special courses, recreation, better food, etc. make it easier to reintegrate into free world.
I'm all for it!
FYI…those aren't 3 pillows. It's one pillow and a folded duvet. They use duvets and not blankets in most of Europe.
Some of those recidivism stats are really not at all correct. For example, the Swiss one–if you're locked up for longer than 3 years, you're automatically not counted, because they only count being charged with new crimes within 3 years.
Why should we (taxpayers that are productive and actually work) pay for grown ass men to live in an apartment, eat food and play xbox for free? That is absolutely ridiculous. I'm all for programs, classes and rehabilitation. But get the fuck out of here with that resort-living bullshit.
otago corrections facility is in my city lmao, wasn't expecting that
As great as the USA is and the wealth of the government it should be better than what it is for prisoners, they should be remodeling their system of prisons, obviously its not working as intended or is it, is it money making from the prisoners? They should put more effort into the prisoners rehabilitate them educate them and make them more likely to succeed in life after release
Your intros are
longer than than video lmao
I believe it's Russia they have one of the worst prison systems… when they take a man from his cell they handcuffed him and he has to walk bent over and he cannot look at anyone. Also they have these huge dogs huge!
A lot of homeless people probably do shit to get locked up in other countries fuck nothing is illegal in Canada the police gotta ask if they allowed to arrest your ass over there 🤣
Like you've said yourself, it's no myth about how prison in the US is THE crime school. You learn crime and you have nothing else to fall back on when you get released. I don't think anyone should be at all surprised that in that kind of a system the recidivism rate is high.
Me types in Google: how to go to prison on purpose…
Perhaps if the US was to adopt some of these ideas, esepcially the 40 hours a week of skill building, and time spent with their children, and NOT being raped, beaten, and robbed like weaker inmates are here in Murica. People act how you treat them, for the most part..if you treat people like animals, they will continue to, or start to, act like animals. Prisons SHOULD be humane, and except for the most vile of convicts… Murderers, rapists, crimes against children, etc… we should still treat the inmates like human beings with concrete rights that must not be infringed upon. And if positivity breeds change, why wouldnt we treat these people like every ome else. The punishment is serving the time. Its shouldnt be complete degridation and servitude for those not phsically tough enough to fight it all off.
The problem with the American prison system is mostly privatized and run for a profit! So you have a corrupt system in place where the government is creating new laws and legislation to deliberately feed that industry because without prisoners there aint no fucken profits! To me that's capitalism gone nuts! The institutions mentioned here seemed to be more focused on rehabilitation while the institutions in the states are focused more on the bottom lines of the companies running them! I'm Australian and we're following the US into privatization and I find that scary!
All these prisons are why prisons should be run for reform, not profit. Here in the UK, the private prison industry is slowly becoming the dominant over public owned prisons, and they're crazy violent. When you treat prisoners like people, and not animals, they want to reform. Crazy huh ?! USA accounts for 5% of global population, but around 25-30% of global prison population, there's something wrong there
That’s one pillow on top of two blankets on a bunk with just a sheet on it joe…..
Do they have Grey Poupon there?
Two years later,April 2020,is the state of the U.S. prison system any better?
instead of building a country club type prison where people would WANT to be, why not work on a persons life outside so they never go to prison to begin with?
Love the effort on trying to do this video but it should be a crime on how long it takes you to get to the f'n point, just damn and your audio sucks, damnnn!!!
Im going to Austria
You forget the biggest difference between US and those places Joe.
ONLY in US the prisons are PRIVATE. In other countries prisons want to teach you, so you can become productive.
In US – the more prisoners, the more money the corporations make. So they have no incentive to help you succeed, on the contrary – they are better off if people re-offend.
Honestly whoever came with the idea that the prisons should be private is an absolute psycho…..
JVA is a prison for juvenile
I think I saw a documentary about #9 prison once on Netflix and to add to your list about it I remember that guards just hangout with the inmates like friends. Just like the guard sitting next to the inmate playing video games
Hey Joe, I just watched a fantastic show that I’d like you to watch if you haven’t already seen it.
Worlds Toughest Prisons – Colony 100 Kharkiv – Ukraine (Behind Bars Full Documentary)
