  1. What I just don’t get is when they can’t seem to throw away garbage!

  2. I have this same problem. I feel my memories attached to items. When my grandmother died I struggled with not being able to keep all her furniture.
However, his mother did a number on him. Some mothers are emotional vampires and never let their children grow up and leave them.

  3. I really don't understand keeping old dental floss yuck and you really have to be a patient person to work with a hoarder. I give these therapists and organizers props!!

  4. Melissa could have a little empathy for Richie. And I applaud that he is not going to let her shut him down. He's a nice guy… there are others in life.

  5. Does anyone else think that the therapist, Karen, looks and sounds like a blonde Julia Robert's? I kept thinking that she looked so familiar and then it hit me….she's definitely a Julia Roberts lookalike!

  6. I think he could do what he's doing faster if pushed. But he seems to have made significant progress.
Yah, his ex is a birch.

  7. I have a niece with OCD, and what you accomplished is tremendous. Took a huge amount of hard work on your part to actually get rid of those things… Doesn't seem like your friend understands OCD…

  8. According to the comments, Melissa should be praising him for his work. But why should she? She has known the guy for ten years and helped clean his house before, only to see him backslide. In the year he worked with a therapist he has only cleaned out one room. What did you guys expect, standing applause? Seeing a friend do the same thing over and over again is exhausting, and she is under no obligation to put on a cheery smile when reality tells her not to expect much. She's not toxic; she's disappointed and drained, and she has every right to be.

  9. she was most comfortable passing while she was with you. You were there for her until it was her time to leave. never feel guilty about her leaving.

  10. Ever wonder if this is just one more way to blame your mother for all your problems? If I was the girlfriend I would probably go ahead and let him know she can be his friend but is not going to be involved in his life. She doesn't have to be mean about it, just say, hey, this is a deal breaker, I'm a person too, and it's not the way I want to spend my life. If they want to be meet for coffee once in awhile, sure, but a relationship where you live together and share your lives ain't gonna happen. He is already attached to his dead mother and her stuff, or he says so anyway.
