Thousands of inmates are serving life without parole for crimes they committed as juveniles, but due to the following recent Supreme Court ruling, they must now have their sentences reconsidered. In 2012, the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Miller v. Alabama, that mandatory life terms without parole for juveniles were a violation of the 8th Amendment. In 2016, in Montgomery v. Louisiana, the Court ruled that their holding in Miller v. Alabama must be applied retroactively, giving those previously convicted child offenders the opportunity to plead their cases for possible resentencing. While those deemed irredeemably corrupt will keep a life sentence, others can be re-sentenced to less or even be released with time-served. Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole is a docu-series that weaves the stories of these offenders fighting to prove they’re worthy of a second chance with the continuing impact their actions have had on victims and their families

They'll say anything to be let out. They're asking for second chances but what about their victims?
I don't think the teenagers to get life without parole and and ruin their whole life
Amen of course I fell bad about their situation but… THEY DID THIS SO THEY HAVE TO SERVE
It should depend on the way they behaved inside prison
The matter of the fact is, you are standing up for killers. Regardless the age, this does not justify from their wrongful doings
What seems to bother me the most is that the people who say these things and stick up for these juvenile killers is that they haven't gone through what the victims have.
You will never understand until happens to you and if it does, then I'm sure your opinion will change very quickly about this system. It's better to keep these degenerate, parasitic vermin from our society.
I did put a comment about Brandon Moore case but I ccant find it now.Wonder if my car has been ridelled with bulllets yet
I don't like it my son is in there for something he did do he was at the wrong place at the wrong time he was 18 went he with to jail so I pray I see my son God forbid be for I leave this world he was sentenced to 25 years
tbh yall this kinda makes me mad cuz if like they were children why do they get adult sentences im not saying what they did was good but they were young and dumb so like give them another chance
They need to bring back the gallows and be done with it, your mistake as they say took a life so why should they be able to live theirs out
I agree with this supreme court ruling BECAUSE if we are to treat underage youth differently because they cannot think independently (for example, we don't let kids buy houses or rent cars because they don't have the mindset or mental understanding behind those things), then we should treat them the same for committing crimes. These kids, by the same logic as other age restrictions, don't know any better. Putting aside the ethical/emotional perspective (I understand that these crimes are horrific and should definitely be punished), I do not think they should not be given the same punishment as adults, at least not the maximum.
Went to juvenile when I was 16 for caring a conceled weapon, got out 2 weeks later & changed my life around 🤦ðŸÂ¾â€ÂÂ♂︠(leaving for Navy boot camp in a month btw)🙃
Bobby Gonzales..is right where that POS needs to be ..in prison..Each one of these guys needs to spend the rest of their life in prison..could care less how old they were when they killed
This is a powerful series I don’t believe kids should be punished to the max. We don’t know their mind set and the environment they were in . It’s no excuse for what they did but we need to understand them to prevent
it rather than throw these kids away .
This guy is a liar from the start right up to today. If their dumb enough to let this evil thing out, he will kill again.
The white boy at 0:37 told everyone that a black man did it…I wonder how many more black people where hated because this white boy lied?
Aaron needs to spend the rest of his life in prison idc that you were only 14 When you murdered so was your victim and she can't live another day in life so nether should you be able to live ankther day free period no excuses
I can't believe the sympathy I'm seeing in some of the comments for these monsters. Talking about how they can be rehabilitated and improve their lives. Will the people they murdered also get a chance to improve their lives?
If the first episode isn't a wake up call about race and how it only works for a certain race then idk what to tell you 4 kids 2 black 2 white both blacks get life one who actually killed the guy life without parole the one that didn't shoot has no record. Now the white kids both have records one gets only 5 years one gets no time and it was 3 guns and all 4 were involved in the muder
"Aaron Schmidt" is my little brother. He was sentence to life without any tangible proof that he in fact "intentionally" killed Alanna C. Everything in court was just assumptions.
Alanna was a friend of our family. What happened was a horrific tragedy!! I know my little brother wouldn't hurt her.
We miss her! And she will always be remembered. It breaks my heart knowing that she will be remembered not only as my brother's accident but as well as I have lost a friend. I don't expect anyone to understand.
I wish I could find this full video. 🙄😰
Wow, this video was released on my birthday. Nice.
Life obviously
I feel like, parole should definitely be an option for not only these kids but for adults. Everyone makes mistakes, so some murderers may not ever commit another. I feel like as parole into rehab should also be an option. I'm not saying a murderer should be eligible for parole early, but more like at 90% of their term. It depends on what history they have-criminal & mental, as well as how many victims or what the actual felonies were commited.
We need rehabilitation for people who are in prison. So when they get out they dont move in right next to you as a animal. Point blank.
Born and raised in a broken home where parents getting divorced, Involved with Drugs. That why their Parents needs to stay out Drugs, Alcohol, and Marijuana
During these crimes, their brain wasnt fully developed. Noones frontal lobe develops until mid to late 20s. If you dont know what a frontal lobe is. Look it up. They all deserve freedom unless it reguards a mental illness, which then they should be released to a mental facility not a prison. Dont speak on something you clearly know nothing about.
My best friend is aired in this show and he deserves to get released no questions asked.
Parole desides someones fate by looking at them for 2.5 seconds. If they get to know the person for who they truly are they would be released without a doubt. You all commited crimes im sure ..weither it be littering etc. You are not the same person you was back then. How would you feel to have someone judge you for someone that you no longer are? Alot of you are bullies and clearly dont understand what this show entails.
If i was judged now for who i was at the age of 15 id be entitled as someone who didnt obey authority, someone who ran away from home, fought, got kicked out of school, snuck out and partied alot. But in reality i am 28 now with a full time job doing advocacy full time, paralegal, clean homes on the side for people who are disabled and cant afford it, work on a side business and help animals. Give people a chance before judging. Your comments are ridculous.
iMovie really?
Seems like a bunch of white people in these comments😂 that never grew up with a true struggle lol
Have any of you guys heard of an under developed prefrontal cortex? I don't think its that unfair to have a retrial for a possibility of parole for these people.
I wanna see more damit!!!
I did just fine not killing people when I was in eighth grade
Honestly I don’t think kids deserve this, lives are taken by other things than other people, it is terrible because of what these kids done but it’s not like they got a wake up call to stop, these kids don’t deserve to be locked up, as long as they are kids then they should always have a chance in life cuz their tryin to grow up and be good people but this justice locks them up for a majority of their life cuz of the seriousness of their crimes, I bet these kids didn’t even get any help or discipline in their life, I feel sorry for them but I wouldn’t if they were 18 and older
I wish A&E had as much sympathy for the person who was murdered and their family as they have for the killers. 😒
I agree these kids should be punished for their crimes BUT I believe all should be able to receive intense rehabilitative processes instead of just putting them in cages and forgetting they ever existed.
They should be in for life for a serious crime. Everyone knows Right from Wrong.
This is just ridiculous like u have to live with that guilt your whole life. It’s not fair to the people lives y’all have taken. Because guess what they can’t come back alive .
You play you pay homeboy! Throw away the key
