“Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole” tells the individual stories of eight previously convicted child offenders sentenced to mandatory life terms, without parole, who are now seeking resentencing on the heels of a recent United States Supreme Court ruling. While some may be resentenced to life, others could be immediately released or given a new sentence that makes them eligible for parole.

  1. The first half of this i thought heck no. But when i found out he didnt even the trigger and the other 15 year old white kid with more criminal history only got 20 years and curtis got life, i was like wait what!?

  2. He more than payed for what part he did play. Yes he should not have been there and yes he should have called the police and helped the murdered man. However, 24 years in prison is more than enough for a child who made the stupid choice of hanging around those people. I just hope he can lead a relatively normal life and stays out of trouble

  3. my opinion is that the three who actually did the killing should get life in prison, because not only did they kill someone, but they killed him just because they felt like it.

  4. I honestly don't think Curtis deserved life… probably a good 10years life? No and I'm glad he was released it's unfortunate all he knows is prison.. society must've been hard for him to adjust

  5. I watched the full episode on Hulu..his mom was terrible to him!! spoiler there was a time his mom sat on him and started beating him and he couldn’t breathe because she was sitting on him and he got a concussion and went to the hospital…

  6. Watching this episode in my opinion this man is what prison should be for.. during his prison time he got in to 0 trouble acknowledged his wrongs and how his childhood was effecting him he learned 4 languages and went to college.. what he did was wrong whether he held the gun or not but he was not only homeless but he literally met the kids who committed the crime THAT DAY they found him at the mall.. I think he deserves a second chance

  7. This was one that I believed the kid now adult should be released. How was he the only one sentenced to life and really only crime was being at the wrong place at the wrong time? God bless him and I hope he flourish in this new life.

  8. I get that he didn't do the actual killing but he still had a gun that he accepted as possesion, went along with it, etc.
He could of just bailed altogether but didn't.
Another 10 years would of been more acceptable.

  9. This is the first episode where i wanted him to be released. The natute of the crime(considering his part) vs the sentencing was unjust initially.

  10. These people have no idea what it’s like to be in a cell and they tryna send my guy to life in prison for something he didn’t do.

  11. Curtis Brooks deserves to be released from prison. The victim’s family and friends held him responsible for something he didn’t do. LWOP is unconscionable for juveniles.

  12. If someone commits an adult crime then he should get an adult sentence. I told my kids that it didn't matter if they didn't do a crime but was with someone that did, they were guilty by association. Dog the bounty hunter was sentenced by the same thing. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The victims don't get a second chance so why should these guys get one. This is WRONG in so many ways. What stupid government decides they can't serve the time? Do the crime, then do the time. He was old enough to decide to steal a car then he's should do the time.
