These people are not "collectors." Collectors collect valuable or at least rare/somewhat valuable items. Not taking your trash out for 2 years and allowing your house to get mice/roach/fly infested is laziness and/or mental illness. I say raze the dwelling, put them in a mental institution and make room for the civilized.

I think the way that Adella's children talked to her was atrocious. How trashy to use the f word to your own mother, especially with her mental issues. If you ask me the kids are part of the problem. Poor lady, if it were my mom I would have been there everyday checking on her to make sure she was not hoarding. She needs help not some trashy daughter screaming in her face!! Shame on you! Honor your mother and father so your days will be long on the earth!!! The bible doesn't say unless.

@Jevezy Really?? Just curious as to what your definition of exploitation? So let's say that a person goes on a reality show about throat cancer (who isn't famous). He discusses symptoms, treatments, life styles….etc and wants to inform the public on proper screenings. Do you consider that exploitation? And name calling will not win you an argument. I'm beginning to question your maturity.
@Jevezy Michael Douglas just announced on The David Letterman Show this week that he has stage 4 throat cancer. He discussed the symptoms and is hoping to inform the public of proper screenings since his doctors previously mis-diagnosed it. Do you consider this exploitation?
@Jevezy So because a tv program has actual people wanting to solve his/her personal problem, you consider that exploitation? There was a program with a man going through treatments for prostate cancer. His goal was to inform the public, and it worked. Exploitation? Not really. This isn't "The Jersey Shore." These shows have happy endings with people getting well. "Intervention" has helped many people with the struggles of addiction. That goes for people on the program, and those who watch it.

@Jevezy I understand your concerns. But I truly believe the goal of this show is inspiring people to get help. Hence, there always seems to be a happy ending and/or progress being made due to these shows. Even "Intervention" shows the tragic lives of people in addiction. Though it may me exploitive, the ends justifies the means. If it takes a loved one of mine to be exploited to get better – have at it.
