I understand why Paul was upset with the offer for the scrap metal. That company knows that the offer isn't fair; but they also know that Paul is under the gun. They think he has no choice. They figure that their friend, the judge, will give them the job of clearing the property in an ordered clean up. They will win twice over–big time. Paul will have to pay them for the clearing of the property, and they will also get to keep the scrap metal for free!
