Born This Way: Megan Goes to Washington (Season 1, Episode 1) | A&E

1. The hardest part of down Syndrome is being a PARENT of a child with down Syndrome. The actual person with down Syndrome is fine – they are very simple minded and basically happy all the time. The parent has to deal with filling out the public assistance forms, taking them to all 300 down Syndrome conferences per year, running a business and pretending their kid runs it, somehow supporting and taking care of a toddler from birth until they die from 50-60. Or at least until they get alzheimers at 50, like HALF of them get. It's a FACT that half of downies get early onset dementia. Just another sad part of down Syndrome. HALF this cast won't even know they were on a show when they are 50. And Megan has lots of siblings and a dad – the show makes it seem like Megan is an only child with no dad or something. That's total BS.

9. I do love her chubby little cheeks and potato 🥔 head. It's funny how delusional she is about her abilities. It's cute to see her truly believe she can do stuff we all know she has no chance of ever doing. Makes for good tv

My reason of how i started watching this show, was becuz i was trying to find something to watch and i channel surfing and saw in the description of this show "born this way"…and it said megan on it and my name is meagan…so i stayed tuned in and i like watching this show and seeing what down syndrome people are like.

16. "Reach Higher", all these "initiatives cost your friends and neighbors more & more of their hard-earned money which they SHOULD be either choosing THEMSELVES to donate, rather than being forced into contributing; forced charity, or putting aside for their OWN children.  I guess if I were on the receiving end of all these programs…initiatives…I'd be a big ol' Obama-loving liberal…but then again, probably NOT. I can see right & wrong very clearly, no matter what my own personal struggles.

17. Megan, I wish you only happiness and joy. Bad times will occur, but take comfort that you are loved and looked after by a caring mom that will always be there for you.. Never letting you out of her sight. Will be watching every move you make why'll you are dating. She will be there 24 hours 7 days a week. There's no getting around it! Good luck!
