I was loving this video till a mention of automatic transmission was mentioned, I clicked the off button as soon as I could grab it……. That factory trans was what made those trucks soo cool….. people are always looking to swap to manual I’ve never seen someone prefer an automatic who was actually a square body old school fan
the only thing we changed was the suspension , the frame , the engine and the brakes . its like a whole NEW truck ……. well guys it is a whole new truck . you could have went to the junkyard and purchased a c-10 cab
Please don't put an automatic tranny in place of that stock manual 4 spd. What are yall thinking?

Nice find. I recently found and purchased a 86 c30 wrecker with the holmes 1100 single line hydraulic bed with a manual wheel lift add-on. Old wreckers are getting hard to find but still desirable
Square Body Chevys are without a doubt some of the best ever to have been made even better than your wife's truck with heating seats and you navigation crap being over priced plastic computerized waste of money.
An NV4500 5-spd would've been my choice.

salute the craftsmanship, the amount of hard work but however I don`t like the final result in terms of final look or maybe I don`t see the same goals in the restauration or maybe I don`t share tier artistic point of view the goals of the restauration, I mean why put a ton of new parts on the old paint and surface rust? At lest please a rust sealant!🤔😕

Why does everyone just throw in an automatic transmission these days?? And they said “an automatic transmission” like it was some great upgrade to be proud of. There are plenty of good manual transmissions out there. I like this show but sometimes they don’t seem like real car guys.
So what happened to the 632 cubic inch big block that was repurposed for this truck on the show 6 months ago? Did y'all nix that project and just swapped out for the 350 that you already had? Kind of a letdown!! And y'all already had this truck in the show 6 months ago but now this newer show is acting like you just got it. Kind of confusing if you ask me
So going to the 700R4 I’m guessing the wrecker bed is now for looks? There isn’t a place on the 700 to bolt on a PTO pump. Maybe they’ll go some other electric over hydraulic system to run the boom and winch. I hope it isn’t just a poser now. I still like the project.

I believe that tow truck is a 1974 year model because it has a 1973-74 grille, headlight bezels, & front blinker lenses & the emblem on the passenger side dash says Custom which 1974 was the last year for that package & the new Custom Deluxe package replaced it in 1975. 1974 was also the first year for the drip molding trim above the doorways on the exterior. The front blinker lenses below the headlights on 1973-74 year models are orange, 1975 & up are clear.

2:30 the ford comment doesn’t mean much because it can literally just be that area that used to run fords a lot, like around here you see nothing but ford f-250s, so later in life yards will be full of them
