Until last year, Toyota held the title of “Best Selling Automaker” for 4 consecutive years. But in 2016, Volkswagen came from behind and stole the title. The German automaker was officially crowned the biggest auto company in the world, according to Motor1.
Volkswagen group ended 2016 with a 3.8% gain over the previous year while Toyota only came up with a 0.2% increase. Dieselgate scandal aside, VW pulled to the top. They have the Chinese market with their tax reduction and President Trump’s planned reforms to thank for that. The development of the U.S. market in 2017 will decide who comes out on top. Do you think Toyota has a chance at getting back on top or will politics and the economy keep them at #2?
