The guys bring the well-known but anemic 305 Small Block Chevy into the shop by viewer request. They teardown a used and abused 305 and get it ready for some mild upgrades for the everyday hot rodder. The transformation continues as we assemble our Small Block Chevy with new upgrades. Once it’s put together, we’ll put it on the dyno and see if the 305 can make respectable power with some modern touches. Then, we bring our it back for a second round of racier upgrades as we try and squeeze even more power out of this little small block.

  1. I'd like to know what gas station they went to for "pump gas" that can handle 11+:1 compression ratio. And I wish they'd be a little more consistent in how they say numbers; "one nine four hundred", then "one point six rockers". A newbie would be lost, and even someone whose been very hands-on building engines – like me – has to occasionally give a "what the flock did he just say?"

  2. I've always loved the 305 because of the wide range of work you can put into it from mild to wild just never underestimate that 305 it's actually got more meat on the bones than the 350

  3. A 4inch bore sbc block, can be a 283 to 350 ,stock configuration, cubic inches is mostly determined by the throw of the crankshaft, increasing the bore by .030 of a 350 crank will increase to 355,etc.

  4. Cool, since i hated the small bore 305 too back in the day. But with the small bore, it requires a lot of stroke to get any cubes, and then you're limited on engine speed more than a larger bore due to piston speed. Knock knock? Who's there? Rod.

  5. Obstruction of What??? The kids even offered to stand the dirt bike upright!! For Officer leg sweep to take photographs!!! It's disgusting how Cops set up an arrest for nothing 😠…. Video everything and ask questions but never answer questions!!! 🤬🤬🤬

  6. Not science too many changes almost 1000$ of extras or more you changed heads and lifters with minimal increase science would be to see same setup versus different stroke then increments not spending thousands to have marginal change

  7. I'm surprised at the results. Never thought a 305 could be that impressive. There is one other engine that was commonly used in the 80's, and that was the olds 307. Yes I know the bottom end is a windowed main. But it would be interesting if a build could with today's know-how would bring it up to respectability. A lot of Regals and Cutlasses have this engine and they are very popular today. Maybe help us owners of this G-body out? What say you folks at Power Nation???

  8. I own a 1991 Civic DX hatch with a B20B motor swap and 91 Acura RSX 5 speed manual. That thing is a beast and is very reliable.

I also own a Beautiful 2011 Si Sedan Civic with super low miles. It's all original and is awesome. I also have a 2004 Civic Si hatch known as the EP3. It's totally tricked out with suspension, brakes and turbo charged. I super fun car.

And I recently picked up a brand new 2024 Civic Sport 5 door hatch. I purchased it because it has the K20 motor in it. But to be honest I expect more problems with it than all the older Hondas I own. The Civic Sport has that CVT automatic transmission in it. So I expect that to break first. But once again. I can easily swap the 6 speed manual into this car with a few mods and mount placement. But I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Truth be known the Honda I enjoy driving the most is the old 1991 Civic with the big 2.0 ltr twin cam motor in it.
