To expand on WHY it was totaled: The cracked section of the car is on the actual frame/structure and not a piece individually offered by Chevrolet. Since the car couldn't be "put back to original" condition, as insurance typically promises after an accident, it was deemed a total loss.
Dang a armadillo caused that much damage that is crazy
rip armadillo
Just duct tape it. ðŸ‘ÂÂ
What the hell happened to the armadillo?
Its a vet! that crack will jusk keep getting worse and worse weld it and weld it and weld it. It will just keep getting worse intill you hit a pothole one day and the whole tire and control arm and the suspension rips off on the highway and it kills somebody! Why noone will touch that chev pos!
I pick up so many Mercedes with salvaged titles for just rim and bumper cover damage it’s ridiculous. Last week I bought an older low mile s500 and had it delivered sight unseen. No check lights, it runs and drives well but had a terrible vibration over 60mph, they hit a pothole and damaged the 20inch rim, had new tires installed and didn’t notice, thinking it had unfound suspension or driveline damage it was totaled. I was going to give it to my brother but I’m thinking I’ll use it for an every day car.
How was the armadillo?
Whoa, it's a beautiful car! That color!
So how much can you sell that car with this salvage title??
So a $70k car can get damaged with a small object on the road. I have seen many Corvettes go off the road meaning to say they should all be total ??? Or it poor quality/ design?????? In the future if I buy any used car I will have them put it on the lift for inspection.
I live in Florida.
Corvette drivers drive slower than everyone…
Seriously you will find yourself having to change lanes to get around them!
Tig welding that crack by a certified welder would be a snap. I use to tack weld aluminum parts for welders, that would be an easy fix, that car would be back on the road.
Can someone explain what exactly the cons of rebuilt salvage titles?
On a C7 corvette the tray is considered apart of the frame! Frame damage = totaled. The manufacture removes the engineers safety certificate and the insurance company can no longer insure it. The car then has to be repaired and inspected by the state it is to be registered in.
Its a chevy, it was crap before it met road debris
One of my customers hit a deer, driving a town car. Dead deer, and town car too. Sam, this is a good video, and you are speaking with wisdom. You are getting better.
I hit a kangaroo at 110kmh that wrote a $35000 car off.
Now that's road damage.
I would still keep it and drive it, hell what anyone else says
Weld the crack then weld a 1/4 inch aluminum brace plate over the welded crack… then burn rubber!
Title should be….Crac on Cracks.
Ok Adam sandler
That's a good salvage car. It would be cool to put all its parts in a 3rd Gen corvette
Just weld it.
Why did you make a ten minute video about this when only a couple of minutes or so were relevant information? The rest was you rambling on and not really providing anything of any use.
For structural damage, I have my friends at Boeing give me advice. they know what to do with cracks. Sometimes, it's scrap.
Hey Sam! Why don’t you try rebuilding a Chevrolet Volt?
Do you know what it sold for?
I was going to buy a salvage car when I bought a used car, I was just scared to do it. How do you know what the person had done to it, is it fixed right, you know that's why I started watching your videos I'm interested in having money I could work on my own but that's a gamble. But now my used car I bought from a reputable dealer has had so many problems I might have been better off with a salvage.
Duct tape and black paint.
Oh yes
Man these videos give me inner peace. I hope to buy a salvage title to rebuild it before I graduate highschool. I want the learning experience. Thanks for these videos they're great
I guess this is a reason not to buy an exotic that's so low to the ground. Can't drive around in downtown areas that are always under construction
