I had a GREAT time at the drag strip with my 1979 Fairmont. True, it isn’t fast, but that’s not the point. The point is that it ran great and consistent. In some racing classes, that’s all you really need. Still, it would be nice to get a little more power out of it. That is the plan after all. At least now we know what Oliver can do out of the box. Now it’s up to me to ‘make it better’. No matter what, I love this car. I’m having a lot of fun with it. I hope you’re not getting sick of the videos yet because I love making them.
If you’re interested, look into your local tracks, they likely have a test and tune night just like this track does. You can take anything as long as you pass tech. For very little money you can find out what your ride can really do.

That’s me in the 944
Stage it deep and leave on the last yellow.
SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING BACK?
I like that – “the Fearmontâ€ÂÂ.
I used to run at Edgewater in the 90s in a $600 '80 Pinto with a 351 Windsor. It had a open diff and I never got good 60 foot times, but it was lottsa loud and mega fun. It ran 14.44 at 100 mph.
Bracket racing is the dumbest thing on earth
I wish he would of used nitrous
I love it 🤣🤣
3:45 Wow look at Oliver walking that other car down!
You had plenty of time to eat a sub sandwich after you left the line.
im surprised they let you run without a helmet
What does it run now Eric that's the question???
When are you taking It again now that It's faster?
And a few years later, Eric goes and Frankensteins a 500HP engine into this granny car.
Just me from the future here.

just watched the vid with brian the cameraman and you doing a street run after the carb tweak. it's come a long way since this vid. hope turning that key was as good as i said it would be for that first drive and fire-up 😉 congrats on the build finish! you realize the tweaking can turn into boatwrights disease, don't you? 😉
=dok=
It's so funny to come back here three and a half years later, after watching this the day it went live. So glad to see it is finally running under its new setup
To follow up on my original post, are you running an automatic or stick, I thought you were going to use the 5-manual shift, but in your drag racing videos, I did not see you shift. That was all the fun in drag racing like I used to do in the 1960's.Vinnie in Cincinnati
Its so sweet it almost seems a shame to take it apart. on the otherhand now the project is nearly done its going to be amazing.
My local drag strip requires a certified helmet that also must pass tech inspection. Or did they take one look at your car and say you wouldn't be going fast enough to need it?
great car when u get something so nice.. but 60 mph in a quarter mile thats funny
Ok first of all, this build is getting exciting! Secondly, I also have a shirt that says "Still plays with cars" and I have a skeleton hanging from my rear view mirror. The small detail I lack is the knowledge of being a tech/mech!
pimp shit.
i love these ford/merc fairmont/zephyrs…
one of the best sleepers of the era.
That sort of consistency is why you use autos!
Faster
And more consistent
Btw you want to launch on the last yellow light or do for reactions
2:30 The Fearmont!
Damn EricTheCarGuy… I Didn't realize you were that close to me. I'm only a few hours from Cincinnati.
That's a Porsche 944 in front of you!
